The KSP forum moderator's team presents the

Kerbal Space Program Forum Thread of the Year for

2024

It's January 2025, which means we review the nominations for the threads of the month for 2024 and select the one that had the most significant impact on the forum community. There were many outstanding nominations to go through, but there can only be one thread of the year. This year, the thread of the year comes from the General Community category. This category features a thread that adds to the community and doesn't fit the game support or game mod categories.

This thread was featured in our last Threads of the Month in September 2024 and was initially shared with the forum community on July 10th, 2024. The thread shares the impact the game and the forum community have had on @Fizzlebop Smith. Once in a while, a game will come along that will impact the lives of those who play it in ways that no other game can. Kerbal Space Program happens to be one of those games. Over the years, many of us have become aware of how KSP has inspired young men and women to study engineering and aeronautics, become pilots, or even pursue careers in computer programming. It is incredible how impactful this game has had on the lives of so many. If you have a similar story of how KSP has impacted your life, we'd love to hear about it.

If you missed the post, you can find it here:

Congratulations, @Fizzlebop Smith, and best wishes for your future endeavors!

Wow, Thank you.
Sharing these are embarrassing, but i hoped it would create a place that might elevate forum expense beyond a mere dollar value.
This holds true now, in a time when we are uncertain if they will spring for new paint on the community center.

Depression was (is) the danger, addiction was a convenient tool to justify the depression. I CANNOT *overstate how grateful* I am that the forum is back up. Reading the unread threads is still one first things i do after crappy day at work.  I cannot tell you how excited i get whenever i see a new mod appear on CKAN. Even if it's something i will never ever play with, I will cruise over to the conversation.

This place is awesome.  As my stress levels have gone through the roof these last few day, I realized how much i missed the forum.

Also, how hard everyone here works toward community. Granted.. in different ways, but it all comes together to make a wonderful place.

Some work at shedding light on difficult technical topics, others act as mediators and bridge disparate views of thought, other spend hours tirelessly bringing free content for others to play with , still others offer boundless hope in an otherwise dark and terrible world.

I missed you all so much.
