This was posted before the license was extended until next year, I'll keep this for posterity. Didn't mean to cause any panic.

As most people here are probably aware the Forum license is expiring in the next few days, and with this there is a lot of concern the forums will die as a result. This thread is for people who want to share the experiences they've had with these forums, in the unfortunate event that they aren't around in the near future.

Before I start with my own stuff, I'd like to thank the mods for the work they've done. And probably apologize for putting this in the wrong subforum.

Anyway, I'll leave my own personal story here.

Spoiler

I first joined the forums about September 2024, pretty recently in terms of this forum's history. I had been playing KSP since 2020, though the drive to join began when I finally got fed up with suffering on Console and bought KSP for PC last July. Looking for mods, I finally stumbled into the forums.

I'll admit I don't have too much to speak about, as I haven't even had my first year, but what I can attest to is that this is one of the most supportive communities out there. Even when I have acted like a total moron (namely entering the number war with '55-d'), the response has always been a nudge in the right direction as opposed to a kick, which I can personally say has been effective for me. This place has been a great outlet for myself the past 7 months, thank you all.

If the forums do go dark, then so long, and thanks for all the fish.

I only joined a few months ago on New Year’s Eve, but this situation is still disheartening. No matter what happens, we’ll still keep fighting in the dark.

I had plans to eventually create and promote 2 custom kopernicus systems here: if you see anything called “Atheral” or “Intergalactik” in the future, that’s me. If this place falls, ksp is truly finished.

Closing in on this account's 1 year anniversary, and I'd love to thank all of you for giving me such a nice platform to express my thoughts and share my passion for launching space frogs into the unknown.

P.S; I chose a rather unfortunate time to create an account lol

I first got KSP on my xbox one back in 2019. I knew nothing about rockets, let alone flying them, but after about a year, I finally made it to the Mun. Console was very frustrating, so when I heard that KSP2 was coming out, I decided to build my first ever PC to play the game. I saved up and finally built it - only to learn half a year later that it was being cancelled.

Since then, I've just been playing KSP1, where my journey started. Any time I've had a problem, I can just ask what to do on the forums, and everyone is happy to help.

I won't say exactly how old I am, but I'll just say that I'm not in university yet, and this game has made me realize how much I love engineering and aeronautics, which is what I want to do when I'm older.

And a giant thank you to the mods! We wouldn't be here without you

If the forums really are coming to an end, goodbye, and thank you for everything :)

This place has been nice to me as I’ve been here…

if this will be one of my last posts.

Thanks guys.

For supporting me all this way.

Me saying the forum will still stand is hope.

For now, that is all we can do.

On a lighter note, is this how the TikTokers felt?

No complaints here. Had the pleasure of meeting some good people here, hosted a few challenges and a tournament. Managed to keep my nose somewhat clean (yeah I’m not perfect).

It is a disappointment that that KSP ended the way it did. I had high hopes for KSP2 and built one hell of a computer to run it.

C’est  la vieve. Life will go on.

To any of you that I’ve interacted with, it’s been a pleasure……even the stinky Mods here! ;) :D

Keep your wheels to the ground and fly right.

Been here for years now.... Been on and off but this has always been home. Lot of names I recognize, lot I don't, and I hate to see it all go. It's not something I particularly want to see.

EDIT - Nevermind, seems the forums survive the night.

Well... i'm not known for anything.

But the KSP forums are geniunely the coolest, nicest people you'll ever meet (atleast for me)

So... i just want the forums to survive. I joined too late.

We know it is about to be renewed for another year, so there's no reason to spread gloom, doom, and panic yet. Save it for another occasion, okay?

I heard about an asteroid going to hit Earth in 2032.

Had Invision provided any evidence they will be able to Support Forum after the Apocalypse or we will have to cross our fingers after the event?

:sticktongue:

I do not think it will matter if it is an extinction-level event. :)
