What did you do in KSP1 today?

Started work on the rival to my replica SV-262.

It uses the main fuselage of the successful '35' pictured below

And of course the pair together in the same shot.

Personally I'm very happy with how the wing turned out. Overall its a good practice for wing designs.

Plock Exploration Mission (currently driven by a nuclear tug) is adjusting its Kerbol orbit in preparation for the transfer burn, after which it will finally depart on a long (or, maybe not that long, only 3y 159d) journey to the outermost planet of the expanded Kerbol system.

Meanwhile, cargo delivery and retrieval spaceplane is preparing to fly to the Mun where some hapless kerbal needs to be rescued, along with whatever capsule he was in when he got lost in space.

One or the other had already high water. For me at the moment is low tide at KSC.

Okay, how the heck did you do this? Inquiring minds want to know.

Compared to most posts here, I feel pretty "low tech". But hey....

Leeford is enjoying the tanning-studio-deck

While Jeb is thinking: This docking situation might have been a bad idea from the beginning???

But it worked out! 13 docking ports ready for future sub-assembly-storage, fuel transfers, crew transfers, a better-tug-than-this-little-shii, and whatever I can think of in the future....
Edit: Jup, the angles are a bit off :confused:Dw8r5Wr.png

Today I tried building a VTOL-Jet. And it worked out pretty well:

Spoiler

Jet taking off using 6 vertical-placed Junos

Trying to land on the VAB - already so close, now don't do anything stupid!

SOKDwUG.jpg

Sth stupid like crashing into the VAB and falling off of the roof...

The next try was a success though!

"Nobody's ever build a computer in KSP", they said. "It's impossible", I'm sure you were thinking. "The part count would be too high" "It's not like Minecraft, there's nothing in the game that can---"

Fuel flow: exists

My brain in bed when I should be falling asleep:

I just built an OR gate. Pics coming soon.

This is a working OR gate. Now I just need to figure out how to make a few other gates, and I'll be able to make a simple computer!

I based this principle off of domino computing, which I found to be a close analogue to fuel flow in KSP. Here are some links about domino computers:

I've previously tried to make an adder like this in KSP:

But I couldn't get the parts to tilt properly.

@cubinator: this almost goes over my head, but I love it when someone finds new and unexpected ways to play a game.

Here's what I did today (conventional if not boring in comparison) (crossposted from the challenge thread):

So close, yet far from what I had in mind. Maybe if I didn't come from a 60° orbit to begin with?

Do you have pictures of it? The thought that sparked this idea of mine was of the Dr. Nim machine, which works using tilting parts and marbles as well. I was originally going to try that, but I thought maybe the fuel flow would also encode information and be more simple. I've run into one issue so far: I can't get inputs to cancel or stop moving to the next fuel tank. I think I may add giant "dump" fuel tanks for certain inputs instead, but that is not an optimal solution.

As you can see, the fuel tanks can't move the tilters properly. It might work with heavier marbles of a different tilter design.

Have you considered a hybrid system where engines push rockers back and forth?

Today, the best scientists and engineers in the KSP reached a milestone: launching the first vehicle to escape Kerbin's atmosphere.

DNxHAg6.jpg

The vehicle, known as the A-1, reached an altitude of 110 KM before falling back to Kerbin and burning up in the atmosphere.

Many hours of R&D went into this accomplishment, and everyone involved was proud to be a part of it.
