What did you do in KSP1 today?

I went to Minmus today for about the 5th time but this time I decided to make assemble a rover using KAS. So I started to build the rover using a KAS box as a chassis and cubic struts to attach the wheels to. However after it was almost finished and time to put the wheels on to my horror I could only find 2 wheels! I had went all the way to Minmus only to find I had a space bicycle. I tried to make the "rover" work but could not, so I decided to check the KAS boxes again and found the other two wheels, oops.

I had a Kerbal do an impression of Iron Eyes Cody when he realised he'd already trashed the pristine wilderness even before he arrived.

I also continued to despair at the unfortunate side effect of the way my wife build her giant asparagus launcher:

I have expanded my Minmus branch.

Also encountered an asteroid on a very strange, very low geostationary orbit.

Welp, I got a low... enough... orbit around Eve (lowest at 300,000 km), not enough for SCANsat to do it's thing properly, but enough to get SOME science done near Eve.

Jus gotta make a new MK Eve Rocket/Satellite, that can survive the trip AND get close enough to get more scan science.... maybe even a Kethane scan.

Installed Crew Manifest because I didn't much fancy manually EVAing 25-odd Kerbals around my station that's currently got 750 parts.

Then deorbited the bus that got most of them there on its monopropellant, which took a while. I guess that's the drawback of having my station in a 255 km orbit (it takes 190 m/s to get periapsis below the surface) and of having just four 4-way and 4 linear thrusters on a 22 ton ship. Think I'll add more thrusters when I revise the design.

That took a hundred parts off my station (of which 48 are cuboct struts used for lithobraking when I emergency land the thing). I'll be glad when my Duna mission finally leaves and the parts counts return to being somewhat sensible.

First asteroid that got into Kerbin SOI showed me, that my concept of a fleet of 200ton space ships wasnt the right answer, so I got my crew from it out and now its left in a 300km orbit until I find some use of it. In response to this I had to come up with some improvised and fast solution to my asteroid problem, so I rushed to develop my Asteroid Catcher. It performs well, but the first craft didnt have a RCS tank in its space stage so it was a nightmare to manouver. After catching an asteroid and circulazing its orbit I finally completed my Minmus holiday village. The first Kerbals that got tickets to it were of course Jeb,Bill and Bob. I got the idea for the holiday village when I realised that my Kerpolo landers can make it on there fuel reserve safely back to Minmus (they were originaly build for Mun).

<a href="http://www.imagehosting.cz/?v=screencwc.png"><img src="http://www.imagehosting.cz/thumbs/screencwc.png" border="0"></a> <a href="http://www.imagehosting.cz/?v=screengwg.png"><img src="http://www.imagehosting.cz/thumbs/screengwg.png" border="0"></a> <a href="http://www.imagehosting.cz/?v=screenigi.png"><img src="http://www.imagehosting.cz/thumbs/screenigi.png" border="0"></a>

On the picture, we can see two old Kerpolo landers on the left (one still has enough fuel to get into orbit, other one landed only on RCS and is empty, but landed safely and still fully operational). Closest to Jeb (who took the picture while jetpacking around) is the newest module - "Minmus house", which provides extra comfort and also some light in night. Itis the first module actually intended for this base. Right behind it is my Simple Crew Rover (SCR), which main purpose is to move Kerbals that dont know how to use there back pack around. In the center there is a type "Mun-3" probe that was sent to Minmus. It originaly landed elsewhere, but had enough fuel to make the jump here. In the back is my transport system for the SCR and on the right we have a launch platform of my RoboLander system. So basically I just got all the leftover junk+one house to one place and called it a holiday village :P:D

Made this Zeplien of sorts, Still needs some refining but it did all i wanted it to do. Top speed of ~80m/s, sustained top speed ~70m/s. Major remaining flaw is its only got 500-550m altuide on the airbag(whole rover wieghs in at 5.4 tons). Also made my first Unmaned landing at the abandoned airfield with it (~7-10 Min flight time ~90% of the way full speed)

My first time building a huge ship with KSP Interstellar. This is the first prototype of the Kontinent-class ship, the "Im Gedenken an Latios" ("in memory of Latios")

With those five DT-Vista Inertials it has a respectable TWR of 1.83. Sadly, we are experiencing a heavy thrust imbalance when all five engines are firing.

Now on to build the Mega Latios :)

Well, my Mega Latios didn't work too well. It barely flies and is ugly. But surprisingly, it's a pretty decent VTOL.

What I would need, is a mod that allows me to create custom parts of a custom shape, because PWings and the existing Parts just won't let me create an acceptable Latios at all. Is there such a mod? :)

Both Latis look pretty good to me. But for making your own parts, well that's modmaking itself.

Meanwhile in my playthrough, I found that my Duna lander-rover is entangled with my space station. When I docked it part of the structure clipped into the station and once undocked I couldn't free it by application of RCS or rocket thrust. On the bright side I did demonstrate that my station can handle rough treatment, I had it spinning about like nobody's business and everything held together.

Now to cheat by exploiting timewarp to free the thing. Hey, a bug got it there, a bug will get it out.

I have been in a plane type of mood lately, but I also wanted something I could get science around Kerbin and maybe other planets with an atmosphere. The one draw back is I wanted the craft to resemble something that is used here on Earth, and had a crazy thought of making a Predator Drone. Since there are no propellers in KSP currently I knew it would have to be jet powered in order to as fuel efficient as possible, and thus I would need to use the radial mounted intakes. I also found the inline ram air intake to be a nice touch to the design, since use of the front mount was out of the question as I wanted the science nose cone on the front as well as the basic antenna in the nosecone as well.

This is only the MK I version but I am planning on making a RAPIER version that can get into space, and be pushed to another planet (I am not good with space planes to be honest). Also I may make a version of this with a cockpit as well, I just wish the non-pointed one would have an interior. It is also made from all stock parts and has all the science equipment hooked up.

That's not two Mega Latios

All pics are from the same prototype, it uses Infernal Robotics' Rotatron Mk2 to rotate it's wings :)

At least this mechanism works flawless.^^

Today, I installed KAS and was quite obsessed by the anchor for some reason. I had an idea to go to minmus with the winch + anchor combo and fly gracefully a few meters above the surface while the anchor slowed me down. It took me a few tries to make the winch fully extend and make it hit the ground instead of me. Finally! I fly at 170 m/s 50+ meters above the surface with the anchor below and behind me. I slowly approach the surface, when something, which should be obvious, struck me: If the anchor hits the ground, it's going to pull really hard on the winch. Of course, the winch ripped off after slowing me to 160 m/s. I facepalm, hit the ground, quickload and make Bill parachute jump from 36k kilometers.
