My first manned mission to Duna! ( Warning pic heavy)

Hi there everyone

Recently I've successfully landed my manned flight on Duna for the first time.

I'm so happy to have made it this far in ksp and look forward to reaching the other planets.

Anyways my spacecraft consisted of two vessals docked in kerbin orbit. The interplanetary portion called the DIV (Duna Interplanetary Vehicle) and the lander.

Here they are docked together in Duna orbit (as you can see I included a hitchhiker module with it because i thought the capsule would be a little cramped for the kerbals on such a long trip :-))

Landed successfully (I'm sorry for not having pics of it whilst landing but I forgot in the excitement of the moment)

Unfortunately the engineers at ksp forgot to put a ladder on the lander but its okay that's what EVA packs are for(well not really but it worked)

After Jeb takes the first steps Bill and Bob join him. They all smile for the camera!

The lander later takes off into Duna orbit and rendevous with the DIV

I know I had a great (with the occasional frustration) time reaching Duna.

Nice work. Landing on Duna is not easy ... getting back is very challenging! I've done the same mission to the Mun and it took me about 3 days of practice and Delta-V doesn't even really factor into the problem much there!

Nice work. Getting to Duna can be tough, but getting to Duna and back with a single craft is much harder than using multiple tasks. Well done!

I plan on heading to Duna for my first time with kerbals with my next mission when the phase angle comes up soon. I already have my vessle to go there in orbit, I just need to send up the crew, because I didn't use Kerbal Mainifest. I didn't have the mod installed when I launched the it into HKO intially, and I don't want to do the launch again since it took several tries to do it the first time. I didn't plan on bringing them back though. (HOME mod)

Anyways, I'm impressed by what you did to make it there and back. So again, nice mission.

I'm really happy with how the DIV performed for the mission.

I think I'm going to set my sights on Jool's moons next. I need to make a new vehicle though as this one doesn't have the necessary Delta-V.

Nice job! I'm not quite there yet, I'm preoccupied with something else, but I plan on doing it Mars One style. Either way, I'm kind of frightened to go on to the other planets because I can only imaging how difficult ascent might be... So congradulations, and I wish you the best of luck!

Good job, so far I have put Kerbals on the Mun and brought them back but not other planets. The only thing I have sent to Duna was a little rover called Curiosity .

Very nicely done. As CatastrophicFailure said, really nice simplistic design.

The only thing I've put on Duna is a pile of rubble from a failed rover landing. I should work on that.
