Dropship One (Image Heavy)

After dropping off my Mako-inspired rover onto Laythe, I began to wonder.... What If I could make a version that flies?

The project idea began as Dropship One. The closest thing I can get to an IVA type ship which is aesthetically pleasing and capable of SSTO (barely)...

The first prototype started out as an atmospheric transport, capable of transporting 4 Kerbals to at least halfway around Kerbin.

Here is a closer look at the interior of this prototype:

The final iteration of Dropship One, has SABRE-inspired SSTO features (difficult to get there as you have about 50 fuel and oxidizer left), seats 4 Kerbals, and has its balance issues solved which was previously present in the other prototypes.

In the rear of this craft, we have a ladder 'ramp' to gain access.

Once on board, we have a comfortably lit crew cargo area for 4 Kerbals.

Here, we have various instruments to measure the environment outside the craft.

As we sit down, we can see the battery packs that charges the various components of the craft. We also see the door to the 'cockpit' (protip: it's not really the cockpit, it's for aesthetic purposes)

Here we get a good view of the takeoff, and what it would appear semi-full of passengers...

Of course upcoming projects include a 10 Kerbal carrier, which is capable of SSTO (with excessive use of clipping). However, unless you are going to load up the craft with 10 Kerbals at one go, it's a glorious waste of time. (currently under testing)

I managed to grab it last night.

I'm using it in various iterations of universes, including my new Sci-Fi universe called Thunderbirds Are Go (see below )!

I absolutely love this thing! Brilliant and inspiring work!

I just posted a slight modification of the Gladius that could serve as a cousin to this dropship. It's smaller, but this one is lighter, I think.

Today I did a mission to Laythe, my go-to planets of all planets moon to visit. I modified the dropship to carry a small rover for *SCIENCE!* missions.

We launch the dropship into orbit with the rover payload

Next we launch the interplanetary tug and rendezvous for the burn.

Now, on arrival to Laythe, we spotted a small pond sitting in the middle of a large land mass we were crossing over. Being inquisitive, we decided to check it out.

Before we detach the rover though, we perform some SCIENCE! Then we make a short drive to the small pond for MOAR SCIENCE.

Current scientific consensus is that there are no whales in this pond. Also current scientific data suggests that the pond is great for swimming! Blub blub blub blub...

Can you Make a 100% stock version of the dropship and the rover dropship variant as the mod that uses the part in it doesn't exists any more or i cant find it. as other wise i can only get the rover to work with the current version. many thanks.

Check the day this was created, you just did one hell of a necro. This ship is a couple of years (and several game versions) old. The part you are looking for is the old Mk3 cabin, which was replaced long, long ago.

I remember this craft! I remember thinking I would never be able to make something like that. Good times man. Good times.
