Command Seat - Picture Thread

So yeah, I've been playing around with the new command 'module': EAS-1 External Command Seat: originally(perhaps) destined for surface vehicles.

Except I strapped it onto a rocket...

CHARGE! TO KERBIN!!!

...so yeah.

Did any of you guys played around with this new thing-a-ma-jig?

First thing I did in .20:

Strap Jeb to an SRB and launch

Thanks to seat, these guys can be made. And they are fun.

They control pretty well, and they're simple to design.

I was surprised when I pulled up and my altitude actually rose.

Sadly... Lenke learned that he should really slow down before deploying chutes... and to deploy them higher than 600m up...

That's handy! But how is it powered? Did you launch it off another ship? Or is it simply powered by glitchy aerodynamics?

I made this little guy, hoping to make a stable yet lightweight and safe way of emergency orbital escape.

I failed to make it stable (center of thrust was off for some reason), and the little guy fell off when it landed.

Regardless, science was conducted, the mission was declared a success, and Kerbal engineers clapped each other on the backs.

Unfortunately, this things top speed is 5 m/s. Any faster and it flies away...

Unfortunately this didn't have enough dV to get back into orbit. Worse, the navball was in the wrong alignment, meaning I had to eyeball the Grasshopper's attitude all the way to the ground.

Yep, that's not Jeb.

You get much better visibility up top.

Spacesuit doubles as a wet suit.

Not so much seat based, but the seat forms an important part of these designs.
