A loud bang not accompanied by parts flying off.

Have you ever hit f3 to check the log after that happened? tbh I've heard that happen a few times too.

This happens with the first pair of boosters on every asparagus launcher I have, The boosters collide with the rocket on jettison and I hear explosions but nothing is damaged *sigh*.

Could be the decoupler bouncing into one of the fuel tanks. I've not really had a problem with the silent explosion problem, but I have had to deal with my rocket snapping halfway up whilst launching. Not fun.

Yes. It's not routine, but still not uncommon. Definitely nothing exploding, just a random bit of boom. First few times it happened I thought it might be Mach-1, but my velocity was always too low for the air pressure at the altitude where the boom was dropped.

Still not convinced it's not a sound artifact glitch. I get those from launch clamps all the time.

Is it possibly the same booster sound sample being played several times at once? Seems to happen when your FPS drops (relatively, I don't mean hits the floor, but spikes down for a moment), right?

It's this, just a random boom. Sort of like a 'burp' if you will from the rocket, if you actually keep an eye on your engine/exhaust you'll even see an animation, so it's not a glitch or artifact sound.

I've heard it said (I think in Scott Manleys videos) that it's when one fuel tank runs out and the other takes over, its sort of a cue to keep an eye on fuel, or whatever.

It may or may not be intentional on the part of the devs. The likely cause is when one tank is empty, the engine flames out before the other tank starts, but it happens so fast that its almost not noticeable, graphics wise anyway.

Yeah, this is what I see a lot. An engine will "flame out" for an instant when one tank in a stack runs dry, creating the sound and sparks effects of a flame-out but with no noticeable drop in thrust. It doesn't happen all the time though, and I can't tell what determines whether it will happen or not

i have this happen to me at-least once a flight and i get scared and start rambling around to see what happened. there's no info of F3 and no visible damage. and it's not a tank running out of fuel or any thing it usually happens to me a few secs after launch when my tanks are still full.

This must be it. I generally don't stack tanks if I can help it, but this one's first stage is ginormous. 13 stacks of 4 X200-32's with a Mainsail on the end of each.

Yes, I've seen the effect where the rocket will spit out sparks and make a noise during boost without any damage, but I never correlated it with anything... I thought it was a random thing. But if it does correlate with tanks running dry, that's interesting. I've ignored it for a long time (ever since I concluded it was not a sign of damage).

this happens to me only when relatively close to the ground. couldn't figure out what was causing it till one time i noticed a discarded booster section crashing into the ground below, seems to be a bug with how sound is propagated

I use a pair of sepatrons to combat that. One on the top, one on the bottom, on opposite sides.

It happens when I use stack separators instead of normal decouplers between my 1st-2nd stages. High-powered engine thrusts the stack separator back into the previous stage...previous stage gets annihilated
