Am I to understand that KW has been cancelled?

I smell K-NovaSlugPunch-W coming on...

NovaPunch is a bunch of varied parts that came on KSP's ancient days, even before 0.13.3, but KW is a mod made specifically for good-looking and realistic lifters. IMO, KW's quality is far better than NP.

Okay, firstly I have no intention of looking to update KW Rocketry - Novapunch is already huge and hard enough to keep updated as it is.

Secondly, you guys should take another look at Novapunch, almost all of the artwork has been redone (by frizzank, not me) and is on par with KW now. Its an ongoing process, but its vastly changed over the last few updates. Link is in the sig.

I'll be honest, I've been avoiding Novapunch for a while because I didn't like how rough the parts looked. I had no idea that they looked so good now.

Well, to be honest I still like some of the parts of the KW more than NP, only because of the low poly models of some of the NP parts - for example when u put a stock part at the bottom of a NP tank you can see the edges of the tank, which is non-existent in higher poly mods. Some engines(like the 2.5m NERVA) seem to be using a very low-poly model, the large pod has jagged edges too.

This is not a game-breaking issue of course, but I would love to see NP updated to match the KW quality, while retaining the optimization of RAM usage by merging multiple sizes of parts and models.

In its current state KW is unusable for people running more than 7-8 mods like myself, it is a resource hog and not updated, even not optimized for 0.20 in the way i mentioned above.

I wouldn't hold your breath for a future KW update....lets look at the score:

Some self-entitled jerk DEMANDS you update your KSP mod, so much to the point the moderators LOCK your only release thread....This of course happening after you made an update. Not to mention the backhanded comments toward KW and Winston made by Bac9 at about the same time....

If this was YOU how eager would you be to get an update out?

Honestly if it were me I would be done with it.

I would not blame Winston one bit if he never touches it again after all that BS...

Also, probably not the place for this, I just wanted to say something since it had been mentioned twice. I'll always take feedback and suggestions in the NP thread.

KW has been around almost as long as NP, and this isn't the first time they took a break and were quiet. I'm sure they'll say something when they're ready. And if not, then we should salute one of the best KSP rocketry mods there has been.

Yeah, I know :) It is nice that you are keeping it up and developing, and communicating actively with the fan-base.

I hope sooner or later all parts will have high-poly models :)

I want 64bit KSP loooong before high poly models. As is I'm running about 2/3 graphics (1/2 res textures and render set to fast), just to have a handful of mods installed. I guess it's fine if your playing vanilla and launching satellites and tiny landers....but imo thats only fun for so long.

32bit program and 700part count ships launching 160ton landers....highpoly models get to be a huge problem

I am just a regular end-user who tried to repaint stuff a year ago and failed, and instead just enjoy building rockets and launching Kerbals to the deaths with maximum efficiency. KW allows me to be more efficient at Kerbal destruction, and occasional mission successes. I would be saddened with its discontinuation.

Take it as you will, but there are people who appreciate it being updated and very much like the parts.

Entitlement is such an airhorn word in this context. For some reason, some people prefer to attack others for wanting things they frequently use to remain operational as 'entitled', rather than discuss how to maintain or replace abandoned, but useful utitlies.

Does permission exist for KW to be maintained and kept compatible if it has been ditched?

The last time I looked the licence consisted of instructions not to redistribute and a slightly poor-taste joke about killing pirates, so I would hazard a guess on 'no'.

Again, that would require to get to Kyle or Winston. But this mod deserves to be kept alive. I just love the simple fairing system (I only kept those, to stay more "vanilla").

Do you not know about ProcFairings? Seems like since that was released the fairings are least useful part of KW.

I've been using KW since 0.17.1 and have always loved it. I've modified the configs, fixed the little bugs and gratuitous gamebreaking annoyances (here's looking at you, 8 ton 5m fairing base), and changed it around, but I've never reinstalled it. I've never had any memory issues even with larger craft and this is from a guy with the absolute minimum specs for KSP (4g ram and awful stock toshiba graphics). I would be incredibly saddened to see KW fall by the wayside- I tried NP and was disappointed by it, however, I've yet to try its new release.

I hope it's updated or something similar like it is created, I love the sensible way parts are organized in it.
