Donziboy2 Posted February 2, 2014 Share Posted February 2, 2014 Fractal_UK, im seeing issues with Plasma Thrusters not producing even thrust, I have been slowly building up a network of relays and reactors and as the amount of power and thrust has increased I have noticed that the craft tends to turn to one side or the other depending on which of the 2 thrusters I placed first, also occurs with symmetry. When looking at the numbers they appear the same yet the craft seems to have a slight turn based on the first engine installed.In this picture I installed the engine on top(left in VAB) first and the bottom(right in VAB) one second.In this picture I installed the engine on the bottom first and the top one second.. I have had this same issue with other craft, I have been running tugs for about 2 weeks now doing a large mining operation on the Mun. Just before release I conducted a quick test of the latest version using the Linux x64 version and had no issues, so I assume whatever was causing that problem has been resolved in 0.10. TomatoSoup Posted February 2, 2014 Share Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) Steam thrusters were considered but rapidly scrapped because it takes a lot of power to keep water at a boil compared to a monopropellant which uses none and only a few watts to fire. Energy density is also an issue and although I don't have the numbers with me I can guarantee that the specific impulse of hydrazine (the real world monopropellant represented in KSP) is far greater than water. Plus having water inboard is probably much more useful for drinking than flying. Good thoughts bad conceptI'm not so sure about that. If you put water through a NERVA it decomposes to hydrogen and oxygen and gets a higher specific impulse than you'd think, something like 50% of just pure hydrogen. cjones Posted February 2, 2014 Share Posted February 2, 2014 Your reactor is full of actinides, you need to get rid of those (by reprocessing) before you can refuel.It will be in the next update.Thanks for your patience with all these questions. I (wrongly) thought that actinides would be transferred into the depletedfuel container. So I will need to first reprocess these actinides into depletedfuel then I can bring the UF4 over.Maybe to help out people (like me ), an error could show (maybe with the big centered green text) telling you there's no room in the reactor or something.Anyway, thanks again for this mod. If you mean parts already on a ship that has to be done on a per-part basis. It would be nice for example to send a new mission there and upgrade it for free as an alternative, but the prices at the moment are very low. In terms & measures of Kerbol system - how far is it?Do the satellite dishes from RT2 have enough range to cover this distance for science transfer?Also, does the science yield from this telescope depend on orbit height or whatever?
