[1.1.2][1-1-2] May 13-2016 EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements

I am using absolutely no mods, except for EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements. KSP was the only program running at the time, and there is plenty of RAM available (over 4GB free). The rocket was in the upper atmosphere when the error hit, about 50-70km and doing over 2km/s.

Let me know if it happens again, I've never seen anything like that before.

Oh, one more thing Rbray: auroras seem to be impossible in this version, where the the light of a layer can not shine in shadowed zones. Will this change in future versions?

So, is there a way to tell the mod to shut off the cloud layers when in MAP view? Similar to how I want to see the Kethane grid only WHEN in map view?

Not yet. Might make a "radar" mode where instead of just disabling the clouds, you get a night-vision style view of the ground/ocean.

Yeah, I'll add support for auroras and other effects in the near future.

What is inside BoulderCO and what is inside EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements?

EnvironmenVisualEnhancement folder contains the respective plugin dlls and a cfg.

BoulderCo contains CityLights, Couds and ActiveTextureManagerconfigs folders.

It used to work with 6-7.

Please don't make that default. It's partly for the realism of a little element of uncertainty that the clouds appeal to me. Landing at Eve is as terrifying as trying to land at Venus!

Totally agree - I recently landed an (impromptu, it turned out) ground station on Eve with the help of SCANsat and timing. Falling through the clouds was amazing.. I can't wait for my Duna transfer window!

EDIT: While I'm here, might as well ask for help - a couple of times when I got to map view, the clouds have disappeared and the view is focused on the north pole. There's no Kethane grid either and switching back to flight doesn't work. It's fixed by quicksaving/reloading so nothing game-breaking but yeah.. It only happened after I installed this.. I'll have a look at the output log/debug menu when it happens again. Let me know if I can be of more help.

Ok, I finally decided to install this after waffling on it. It is awesome. These types of effects should absolutely be a stock feature of the game. They work really well and give the game a lot more life and atmosphere (hah).

Good job all who contributed! :)

Thats cool! Is it also possible to let the black sky start a bit higher? Let's say at 20km?

Yup, something very similar is done too. I'm waiting to save my configs in a good way to release it. May be my fault or just a small bug in the mod, I'm waiting Rbray's response.

Btw, I have a quite impressive new aurora textures...

Hope that feature will back soon.

Auroras effects aren't new at all, check the thread. Just not possible in this version due to the changes for lights, volumetrics and so on, but Rbray89 say that it will be available again in the future.

The output_log.txt in ksp_data would help. What altitude did you use mapview?

I'm just not sure what is going on in your install. Corrupted download?

I would love harsh wind and rain when flying through thick clouds (which now is the foundation for storms).

I was flying through some thick clouds today with a jet and I just wished my plane would start to wobble a tiny bit and I could hear rain! :D

rbray and other computer visual geniuses, this has to be done!

...Problem is, I cant see much of a system that detects when your craft is flying through thick clouds, as clouds are just dumb png or png-like files. However, Microsoft flight sims from a decade ago could sound wind and rain when you flew through clouds, so it should be easy as breathing by now...
