[1.12.3+] RealChute Parachute Systems v1.4.9.4 | 02/06/24

Just a heads up, having trouble loading HomeGrownRocketParts' Inline Parachute when RealChute is installed, it just stops at the part in the loading screen but it doesn't freeze or crash.

.

HGR needs that part updated to new format for the RC module most likely.

Question. Is the break in compatibility mainly due to the included parts changing? Will it affect my game if I've only been using stock chutes?

Found a bug that may be RealChutes related. It causes your view to lose focus on your active vessel. Uninstalling RealChutes fixed the problem for me. All people reporting the bug reported having RealChutes installed:

I too have encountered the "warp out of focus" bug with my craft using RealChute.

Another consistent bug: when loading a quicksave or reverting to launch, RealChutes disappear from staging (and probably cause other strange behaviour, haven't tested it thoroughly). Reverting to VAB and re-launching helps - but can't be used in an ongoing flight.

When quickloading vehicle already in flight:

- Staging icon for RC disappears

- Info menu window shrinks so that you cannot see anything in it.

On reentry

- Predeployment of main chute (Mk1 Pod+Mk16 chute (RC config), Kerbin, standard settings, NEAR+DRE installed) makes a HUGE G-force shock, effectively killing the crew. Maybe, it's just NEAR compatibility matter and I should try FAR+DRE?

Yeah, that was me, I can confirm that removing realchutes solved the bug in my case

Look at the four previous pages for the fix.

And eh, I guess I'm just tired.

No worries bud, you're doing great. Great work on the realchutes by the way! After the first time I used realchutes, it became one of my favorite mods.

No, it's due to the formatting changing. If you used stock parts with RealChute behaviour, it will break.

Guys, I've stopped counting how many times I've said it but describing your bug to me is not helping me 99% of the time. I need /logs/. I need screenshots. I need info. But mostly logs. Without that I can't know where to start to fix the said bugs.

Chris, I am having the same problem as Dr Jet, but guess what?

I have logs!!!!!!111oneone(that's a link)

Also, for the rest of you who posted page after page of 'it's broke' and 'it doesn't work' and 'omg fix it NAOH' and not posted any logs,

Enjoy some Comic Sans.

(btw when right clicking the chute to manually deploy, the log is spammed with null refs)

Well you're going to have to deal with it. Toolbar integration definitely isn't happening.

The parachutes editor being in the Action Group menu doesn't bother me, but the Settings button that isn't movable or hideable at the Space Center screen seems odd to me. When you say integration isn't happening are you referring to the Parachute editor or the settings button? Also, do you mean the Squad toolbar or blizzy's toolbar?

Hi Chris,

it seems the cute itself is _very_ small if (pre)deployed. It seems only a optical issue.

Integration to Blizzy's Toolbar is not happening. I can make it hideable through a keypress, but that's as far as I'll go for now.

Hi Chris,

I have also experienced the bug where the ship moves off the screen and the G-forces rapidly change. Here is my log file and a screen shot:

output_log.txt

screenshot2.png

persistent.sfs Save file for replicating the bug.

The only mod currently installed for me right now is RealChute. Let me know if there is anything else you need, and thank you for all of your hard work!

some other interesting things I noticed is that when that bug hits, chute part temperature drops continuously below what is normal. in space I see them going to -2600ish

And playing with it right now trying to salvage this flight, I see that t

at least one chute did try to activate when I staged in space and now the capsule is spinning in space as though under some force. SAS is not enough to keep it steady

I can recreate that stack chute bug. Here's log and screenshots. Tell me if you need more info.

I run on 64 bit version of KSP. No mods installed except realchute only.

Yeah that bug has been fixed a few pages ago. For now I need info on the out-of-focus bug mostly.

If i'm running x64 linux should I still use the x64 version?

There's only one version of the mod and it should work on all platforms and systems.

For now I have two bugs underhand I need fixing. The first one is the out-of-focus one I'm seeing a lot, the other is related to all parts other than RealChute having invisible deployment sequences. Any info on both will be hugely appreciated :)

then I refer you to the log I linked to because that happens too.. accompanied by massive decelleration which causes DREC to murder my Kerbals as they die screaming
