Hello rbay89.

Thank you for the answer.

I read all pages from this topic.

And I found what and where to put those configs. Just right now I do not see those shiny numbers some guys are posting here. My memory reduction is only 300MB.

So because of this I am asking for some samples of their or your config file mainly for KW and Novapunch2.

my config file looks like this :

config_enabled = true
OVERRIDES
{
KWRocketry/.*
{
compress = true
mipmaps = true
scale = 1
max_size = 0
make_not_readable = false
}
}

config_enabled = true
OVERRIDES
{
NovaPunch2/.*
{
compress = True
mipmaps = True
scale = 1
max_size = 0
make_not_readable = false
}
}

As I read here, this way is not the good way to compress the whole folders. I think you mentioned that it is not a good idea to compress the whole folders of plugins.

Could you be so kind and give me some hint how to achieve those shiny 800mb or 1gb memory reduction numbers.

Umm, KWRocketry and NovaPunch2 are allready configured. You shouldn't have to touch those configs.

Are you using Basic or aggressive. Aggressive is the one that gets the most memory reduction.

Aggressive.

So you are saying that I do not need to modify them ? Hmmm OK I can try it with the default configs.

hmm I need to do more testing I think. Bcs I really want to achieve those 700MB memory reduction numbers.

You can only really get those huge savings when running with LOTS of mods. Also, if you are already running with texture reduction packs, you see as large a difference in memory as those that don't.

Hello rbay

Thank you very much for the answers and explanations :) I am thinking posting here my game data folder so you will see how many mods I have. And I am thinking about removing some parts from some mods to have more memory.

Have a nice day

My kerbals keep sinking through the terrain as would happen on low graphics. I'm using the agressive version cause I have loads of mods, is there any high to force the game to use the better quality terrain while using this mod?

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but has anyone investigated the possibility of kicking textures out of RAM entirely until a part that uses the texture enters physics range?

This mod does NOT affect default terrain textures. Are you using some sort of Planet mod?

In KSP it isn't terribly feasable. Loading times would be annoying, and the asset management support just isn't there.

This mod seems to freeze upon loading; it gets to the point where it's loading the Kerbin clouds from your Clouds and City lights mod, then simply freezes. It had no trouble loading the Duna clouds so I've no idea what it is.

It is normal to have continuous crash with this mod in aggressive-mode and other 6 'light' mod? I have 4Gb ram on a 32bit Win7 andd the total ram occupied is 2,30-2,40 Gb..

Do you only have 4GB total for the whole system? You are probably hitting the limit because your OS and other things need somewhere to live too.

I don't think so. In idle I have max 50 process in background with 1,16Gb ram occupied (NOD32, PC tools firewalls plus and the profiles of my G110). When I am in the VAB/SPH I have 2,30-2,40Gb total ram occupied.

When I use this with reduction packs, this happens: 1QXJZxj.jpg

I'm using your mod, and Squad Texture Reduction Pack. I installed your mod a while ago, and recently today (Like ~5-10 minutes ago) I installed the reduction pack. Wat happen'd...?

Oh, yes, I've also notified the creator of the Squad Texture Reduction Pack... click here to go there...

Hahah! I find this game to be horribly optimized. I have 8 GB of RAM, run ONLY vanilla KSP and the game screws up all the time, everyday, unless I have this mod installed.

It really is pathetic that the community has to fix what the developers won't.

You do realize the game is in alpha, right?

don't use the texture reduction packs. They aren't really compatable.

You do realize the game is in alpha, right?

You do realize how LONG this game has been alpha right?

The modding community is what's keeping this game going. We come up with more parts and features everyday than squad comes up with every year.

Not only parts and features but fixes and work arounds the modding community is awesome i just wish squad would pull there finger out and stop dicking around with new content and concentrate on getting this to beta and while they are at smack unity over the head to get us a stable x64 client for windows

Just checking in to say thank you!! I like to test various mods and RAM was a serious bottleneck...despite my 16mb of 2133 RAM. Can't wait for KSP to fully support 64bit, but for now your fix does the trick.

Running the Near Future and Interstellar mods alongside various others without a hitch now. Before I used to get various crashes and hang-ups.
