Mun anomaly missing? [ SPOILER ALERT!!! ]

Recommended Posts

According to both http://www.kerbalmaps.com/ and SCANsat there should be an anomaly in the Midland Crater at -9.8314 , 25.9177. I am currently landed in that very same crater, almost exactly at those same coordinates. There is no anomaly, neither above ground nor below. No arch, no Munolith, no monument. Nothing but regular ground scatter.

Am I missing something or are both kerbalmaps.com and SCANsat wrong?

Oh that one, highlight this comment for the spoiler.

.......................................................................

It's a monolith on the little hill in the middle of the crater, somewhat difficult to find because it's small.

It happened to me too!

SCANsat marked an anomaly in that midland crater, I landed Muning Kerman there and... nothing to visit.

I'll make a rover with the BDT scan from SCANsat mod to see if it will be able to spot something.

EDIT BDT scan signals nothing inside the crater. Must send another rover because that save was corrupted, maybe this time I'll try to land at the precise coords...

I just did a mission to mark all the anomalies on the Mun and I'm pretty sure I have them all. All of them were found using scanSat. There was one I remember having to search forever for. I'll get back to you guys on that just at work right now.

It's a monolith. very tiny and very black and very underground. This one did take me forever to find with just the top part of it sticking out. I don't think the scansat map is right on its location? i dunno. it's there though.

should i post some pictures?

It is there, but under the ground according to your Ground-Detail Setting

Spoil yourself here :)

Well, it didn't even show a little bit of its top for me. And it seems your scanning satellite is a bit in too low orbit due to the shape of your map.

Terrain detail is on default. I found that when it is set high or low anomalies end up buried.

My scanner is set at 200km orbit for the black and white/anomaly scans. I read they work best at that altitude. Not to concerned with the color map. It will fill in eventually :P

Took me an hour or so to find it. I can confirm it is underground (using highest graphic settings and version 0.23).

I had to ram my point-of-view into the side of a hill and take quick screenshots in order to get quick glimpses of what was under ground.

Squad Monolith:It7KFvX.pngIn the background you can see my sky-crane.

I'm not sure that was worth the effort, but hey I found it!
