God help us if by posting this I've broken any Kerbal laws. Many tips of the hat to the previous lifting bodies that came before.

you make your liftbody without most of the beams and it become much strong. i can show you how if you want to.

you also get les parts that way

my arrowhead ssto is a good example

More work on my Hermés mockup ...

TBH I'm liking the way the 48-7S + the shroud worked out ( BTW thanks to all of those that posted here stock fairings made out of structural panels, as I shamelessly stole your idea :D ). The shuttle itself needs some tweaking on the RCS and maybe a floor jr docking port instead of a back one.

The only thing I really dislike on this is that, due to the size of the stock parts, the auxiliary stage ( the one that is behind the shuttle ) is far bigger than the original RL plan had ( relatively to the shuttle, that is ). But well, what can we do if we want to keep stuff in stock ? :/

I've been playing KSP since Spring of 2013, SSTOs being mainly what I build. But, Still: I wasn't able to make a Skylon replica. I call it...

...Kylon! ([sarcasm]Yup, I know it's a creative name![sarcasm] :P) I got it up to an orbit of Ap. 175 and Pe. 55. I have some balance issues and fuel flow problems as well. I didn't add landing gear yet. To take off, I used the microgravity cheat. (I thought it would have troubles with standing on some)

Yup I did that on my new VTOL worked a treat.

That would work beautifully for low-level flight, but remember the torque the control surfaces give goes down as yo go up (because KSP's flawed aerodynamic model makes it scale with velocity, not velocity squared like RL... I finally found out the core source of all wonkiness, a freaking exponent you can look up in the wiki's formula for lift and drag!). So what keeps it pointing where you want to go at 1000m might not work 25kms up. Also, high wing loading? (I.E: it drops too fast without engines) Wouldn't have guessed that. Are you sure the aerodynamic surfaces on the body are working? If you place them in the wrong direction, they don't generate lift (which is handy for fairings, BTW). See, a visual example of that:

The wings are of the type that when you stick it to the side of the plane, the long axis is longitudinal. We are not going to space today.

Here, however, I only use the wings that should be pointing out with their long axis, but I put them "sideways", same rocket otherwise. You know, same form and size, but the other kind, turned 90º. No aerodynamic forces were encountered and the flight worked without issues. We went to space that day!

Rune. Although I knew of this effect, it's only now with SP+ that really comes to light.

Hmm i think it is nearly finished but idk, need some opinions.

Flies like a charm, easy as to get into orbit (from the run way just point it to 25 degree, all you need to do is use action groups) and it puts more than a large fuel tanks worth of fuel into at least a 200km orbit (It will go to the mun and return to kerbin if you want to do that in it)

Just not sure if anyone other than me would want it, i plan on putting a few of them in my orbit and re using them as fuel stations instead of launching then de orbiting fuel stations on rockets, also be great for rescue missions.

it is kinda large for a lot of people, over 600 parts and very expensive.

So thoughts?

Now that i am thinking about it... it does have 62 ram air intakes... it could probably lose all of the external ones. but air hogging!

I decided i need a new plane for refueling things in space, figure it will be easier to launch one of these, deplete it then launch another.

Cool SSTO! Is there a download link for that?

I also like that! Download link? Sorry. I don't want to be hard on you. :)

Most may have seen this before but I've nearly finished my new more realistic version of my

Short brothers SC.1 VTOL.

In order to make it more true to the real one I used mini mainsails in place of the very large KSP jets.

The real one used four small Rolls Royce jets for vertical thrust and one for forward flight.

She looks great now and sits much better on the Tarmac.

It's much lighter in this configuration and a lot easier to fly.

Even though with rockets it is only really usable with infinite fuel.

I will make a stunt video to show it off.

If I had to offer something, I would say that it might be good to try to keep things simple. 600 parts is really quite a lot for something that isn't a detailed replica of something. Even more so because it's an SSTO, unlike high part rockets which shed most of their parts on ascent. It's really cool that you've actually created something that big that actually functions well.

Yeah things i build for me normally get big and part heavy, i did actually slim it back from 890 parts lol, i just seem to do ten times as well when i build big, that and my pc can handle about 1k part craft no worries. heck i spent less time building this than i did my 3 cargo bay SSTO lol

May as well upload it i guess, no reason not to, it works.

I will sell it as a Single stage to mun replacement for Titan and Goliath

Cool SSTO! Is there a download link for that?

Tomorrow, going to upload it, be warned it may cause lag.

So, it's my first post... so please be gentle :P

Also it's my first attempt for serious plane.

PS. Sorry for screenshots. Seems I've messed something up.

PPS. Yeah! Now it works!

It's, it's, invisible! How did you pull off this wizardry? :sticktongue:

EDIT, huh thats odd. The Imgur link works when I quote you but I cant see it in your post..

Oh, and the plane is very imaginative! Nice work.
