Guest
It isn't supposed to and never has.Suposed to reach orbit? 100% agreed m8You won't reach orbit with engines perpendicular to wings. If you think you can I understand why 1.0 irritates you. lolHave fun with that
Darth Lazarus
i'm NOT (!!) happy with the interstages ... but i found a somewhat good solution how it works now with the stock fairings. but i still miss my old interstagering and other things *sigh*current WIP of my american rockets:

Other than that, I find the stock fairing system pretty decent, while perhaps in need of some retexturing. Glad to see you are re-evaluating your opinion about them.http://i.imgur.com/6nBT3Bv.pngTwice the engines needed to lift-off, 1 ton heavier, and 60% less D/V.Oh 1.0, You never cease to irritate me.You are going for a IR hinge, or have you done some stock wizardry? Also, maybe the frontal engine could become a turbojet? More TWR at zero airspeed, I think, right? And much lighter. Anyhow, with the new atmo, actually having the lift engine is no longer as wasteful, since you need much less thrust to fly horizontally (and SSTO) than vertically at low airspeeds. That means you don't really have that much wasted mass, for a VTOL!Also, yesterday I got a replica with off- center engines to fly like a beauty. I couldn't quite nail the "autoclimb with prograde autopilot engaged", so I think I will keep it for a while for aerodynamic improvements. Guess what I'm replicating yet? I've seen a few around the forums lately.Rune. The ring station, I have it covered already.
Columbia
Tried to make an airport loading truck, instead rammed the much heavier Mk3-sized aircraft violently and then surrendering. But hey, at least I have a new pushback truck - A violent one, that is!- - - Updated - - -Wait.. pushback truck? That's actually a good idea.*idea incomingWorked, albeit rather tightly.

clivman
http://i.imgur.com/QkMytV2.pngIt's a Dream Chaser replica. Very Wobbly, that's why I'm shelving it for another day.You could make Dream Chaser shorter and with the smaller delta wings with a bit less angle, with a fin in the center of the back of the plane instead, it makes for a much more stable and better looking plane. Then replacing the many wings on the bottom with two larger ones should reduce part count, and if you use the aeroplane tail fin you shouldn't suffer any instability. You could also build a 3.75m launcher and put a fairing on it, which allows you to put more struts on it and remove the bottom fins. These are just the things I have had to end up doing with all Dream Chaser replicas since the aero update.

Current part count? Are you going for stock aero, FAR or both?Length is 50 meters... Width is 47 meters... Height is 15 meters. Weight maybe 300 tons, or more. Sorry I don't think I used your building style, cargo bay idea was from my Giant Orbital Hangar. Part count? I'm trying to keep it below 500. Anyways I made a really big jet engineâ„¢. It has 8 basic jets, four of these should give the plane a TwR of about 0.7. Credit to sgt_flyer for the engine fairing idea. Unfortunately the engine blades to not spin do to part count and reliability reasons. The wings will be improved very soon.
Spartwo
Less may be more but it is still not few enough to get off the ground single-engined, 300m/s more on the D/v front though.
SaturnianBlue
For my Pioneer 10/11 replica, I was testing the bottom half of the Atlas Centaur launcher when suddenly....It bent over.... Which has never happened to me....Yeah, I'm trying to go for a working half stage, just like in my stock version. RocketPilot573
Added some struts, airframe now stays mostly ridged on the runway.Yep, that's the fuel tank. The crash was so violent that the shadow rendering stuff failed... Hence the black buildings....Ok take two... Jeez, those engines are NOT mounted properly.Hit the giant light at the end of the runway. Rune
OH yeah. I thought thats what it might be. Rune make a custom cockpit. The boring stock cockpits ruin it.See, the problem is that "the boring stock cockpit" allows me to have a functional replica at under 50 parts. Which, when you go about flying the missions with the replica aroundo the huge ring stations, makes the game run much more enjoyably. Besides, I can't add much to the awesome way you guys build compound fuselages, so I focus on making them as good to handle as I can "keeping 9 tenths of the looks". I'll see if I can prettify it a bit though. I didn't even look at any pics from the original building it.Rune. I leave the computer-melting stuff to you guys!
