It is still considered a small indie game, but I know quite a few people who play this, and I talk about it regularly with my colleagues on work. The fact that most of the Kerbal stuff online is in English language doesn't mean everyone playing it is from GB or USA. I'm not, and 99% of my online stuff is in English. It's the language of teh interwebs.
KerbMav
Alzo ve gurmans inwentet ze rokkets! Yeah, it's popular on Steam, so the gaming community in any country can see it.That was the reason for me to buy it on Steam, so it would get a higher ranking and get advertised better. After I played the .18 demo - and fell in love - I actually gave this very serious thought - save some bucks on Steam or give all my money directly to the developers, but also be less visible as a costumer - was win-win really. Here's the link. Actually it was the Chinese who invented rockets. I also bought it over Steam. It was cheaper and it helps the developers because it increases the popularity of the game. Pure win for everyone. AmpsterMan
One thing I love about this community is how international it is. Just within the moderators alone we have:- 1 Canadian- 1 Englishman- 1 Dutchman- 2 Germans- 1 Pole- 1 Cuban (Me)- 1 Californian- 1 Tenessean- 2 Brasilians- 1 Frenchman- 1 New ZealanderThese are just the ones I know out of the top of my memory, I'm sure I'm missing some. nimbim
translation:Prognosis: The Goal: Build a rocket and fly to the Moon. The Astronauts: clumsy "Kerbals". The implementation: grandiose. "Kerbal Space Program" lets you take the wheel in self-built rockets and stretches you to the limit. Successfully reached the Moon and ready to land? Whoever forgot a ladder may begin again. Incredibly complex game with a lot depth. Try it!

Specialist290
I'd like to take the opportunity to point out that technology is an inherently iterative process,* with each innovation building on the technological base created by the many other discoveries that came before it. The more important question is not "Who invented it?" but rather "For whom can it be the most beneficial?", which I hope everyone agrees in this case would be "All mankind." Also, discussing who gets the credit for inventing the rocket is slightly off-scope for this topic Definitely always nice to see more coverage for KSP, of course. The matter of most documentation being in English is one that's been at the back of my mind for a while myself, for various reasons.* One cannot take sand from the beach and make a dataprobe, etc. Edited February 4, 2014 by Specialist290

fireflower
- 1 Californian- 1 Tenessean I like how these are treated as different countries. Because they pretty much are.The chinese invented blackpowder but in my country we build the first funtional rockets with liquid fuel engines. That is quite a difference. Goddard patented a multi-stage liquid-fueled rocket (gasoline and liquid nitrous-oxide bi-propellant) in 1914 and built the first electric rocket in 1916. Von Braun got something Goddard did not: The support of the State. The Nazis invented Big Science for their questionable goals and the German rocket program was the prime beneficiary of that. To a large degree the end of WWII in Europe was a mad dash by the US and Soviet forces to grab as many German rocketeers as possible, specifically von Braun.
