How do you imagine the first (1.0) version of ksp?

I imagine that we will have what we need to send a robot arm into space to do robot arm stuff in space. It's really hard to say which direction squad might take this game in. Hopefully the aerodynamic system will be upgraded, although space pancakes are funny, it's because of their absurdity. Hopefully using Ion engines won't be as boring as watching paint dry.

I also imagine that what I've mentioned is only scratching the surface, I have no idea how much squad will add or how far they plan to go.

Well, by the time 1.0 comes out holographic displays should be common and the average computer will have a few terabytes of ram so we'll look back at the limited part counts and laugh.

Graphics on 1.0 will probably be on par with what you see in high budget movies today.

I'm really looking forward to it.

what I imagine :

multi threading

multiplayer

64 bit

very complex, drawn out but fun career mode

many more planets

too many parts to count

boats, reworked rover construction

new aerodynamics

infinite mods (as if there isnt already)

more modding support

much more realistic

NEW PLANERTS AND ASTEROIDS METEROIDS AND WHAT ELSE CAN I SAY WITH CAPS !!! :P

Crysis engine?

Seriously give us 64 bit and multi threading before any new parts and features. We can make crazy large ships but the current game is very limiting in being able to display large part counts without any serious lag...

KSP 1.0 release version??? omygawd.. i think Unity 8.0 will be ready by then :D

so we'd have 64 bit support and multithreaded physics. ;)

plus..

more parts

more science

more planets and moons !!!

some eyecandy like with hot/cool rockets and citylight mods.

career mode with career paths, contracts, currency, main and side quests etc...

maybe better aerodynamics, but generally the same flight- and navigation physics like now (best realistic/fun to play compromise imho)

I hope they add resources, more star systems, climates and weather, stellar phenomenon like worm holes, black holes, neutron stars, pulsars, alien plants and wildlife, submarines, ice sheets, solar storms, life support systems, colonies that grow food and oxygen, asteroid mining, npc Kerbals and ships, orbital construction, various spinning and motorized parts, better ship interiors, and much more.

Honestly, I think the game is in a great state currently. A few more parts to flesh out what currently exists, and a bit of tweaking to the Celestial Bodies and we are good to go. Throw in some random asteroids, a few extra Moons here and there. The game has come a long way from its origins, and I'm very stoked about how it exists today.

KSP 0.1?

Probably very barebones, with one SRB, one fuel tank, one decoupler, one parachute, one liquid engine, and one capsule.

With just that. And not even map view. Or launch tower. You just launched in a pad in middle of nowhere.

That's probably KSP 0.1

Crysis engine?

There are so many reasons this is a bad idea, there was a thread about this. Also, see the planned features wiki, link posted above.

Is it really so hard for people to understand that this is not something the devs decide. THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 64bit UNITY BEING GLITCHY AS HELL RIGHT NOW. IT WILL BE FIXED WHEN UNITY 64bit IS FIXED. SAME WITH MULTITHREADING. THIS HAS BEEN SAID A MILLION TIMES BY NOW AND IT IS GETTING VERY ANNOYING - THIS ISN'T EVEN CAPS LOCK, THIS IS ALL SHIFT KEY!

As for what I imagine it, I don't. SQUAD hasn't been exactly consistent about what they want so for all I know it could end up an MMORPG. As for development times, I wouldn't say they're so long - it's just that people are used to 1-2 year development times that have turned the modern gaming industry into a graphics showoff with little to no gameplay. I, for one, am happy to see a game that has some effort put into it, rather than being like EA and turning even the Worst Company in America title into an yearly franchise.

Weather forecasts which can be improved with weather satellites and science!

Random part failures (can be toggled)

Fuel tanks and other parts get damaged by light impacts (might require an entire new engine)

Fuel tanks which leak if broken, leak rate depends on G.

Part safety ratings, science! and using them improves these ratings. You could, for example, decide whether to unlock new experimental parts, or make your current launcher more reliable.

Why is it annoying to ask for something that can render properly in a 1.0 game? Not imagining for top of the line graphics, just a faster more optimized version of what they have now in a FINISHED product. Not .24 or .25 or any if its iterations, since this was what the thread was about. I dont really care how long it takes squad to reach that stage.

The Crysis thing was just a joke btw.

I think their path is solid. I cannot think of many items I would add or detract from that. I am pretty new to the game, bought at .18 but did not really play until .23. Career mode played a big part in in the games ability to grab my attention. Yes, i am a long term civ fan. The game as it is now certainly has a lot gaming moments, those times when you really get a nice rush of accomplishment, or an "oh wow". but at a relatively early point they have to be devised and pursued totally by the player and it is a bit limited to plot a trajectory and burn. This is great gameplay for many creatively but adding a few more limitations, thus goals, especially communications and resources would be a further attraction to strategy gamers. KSP could add more of those moments with a greater feel of discovery, both in parts and environment.

The tech tree will always be a subject of controversy among the players. IMO slow it down, once I can send Kerbals to the Mun and Minimus I can fill the tech tree by repetition.

More polish, really nail the Kerbal style down, in the interface and tech tree.

DLC - Of course! If the value is good take my dollars.

Biggest wish at the moment- We have air, space and to an extent, land to explore. I want water! Undersea exploration seems like it would be such a natural extension for the game.

I'll echo the career mode stuff. There's a lot you could do with the Kerbals themselves, ie abilities, stats, etc. Of course experience and promotions, so if Colonel Jebediah crashes and burns on his 15th mission it will really hurt. Not sure how said stats could affect the game though, perhaps only certain ranks could go on certain missions? Like you have to have a Captain or higher to leave atmosphere, etc? This is another way the career could ramp up in addition to tech.

I like that in games, with XCOM being the first example that comes to mind. Although I'll admit it makes one save-cheat a lot.
