Mir space station

Hi all,

Well I finished my MIR space station.

I built it in orbit in the same order as the real one. Its was heaps of fun to watch this come together.

When I see that station slowly coming into view for a docking, I get goose bumps every time.

Agreed. I kept it simple to keep the part count down. I have another Soyuz I made at the same time which is bigger and has fairings.

I would weld most of the parts for improved performance.

But hey, if your system can handle that amount of parts that is neat!

Hey Majorjim i forgot to tell you this: You know that the Soyuz and Progress's solar panels won't turn to the sun. Well, there is a plugin called tweakable everything in wich there is a feature (wich i requested) to disable suntracking on solarpanels so that the crafts look more like the real thing without rotating solar panels.

With the two soyuz attached its about 700 parts. Its possible to dock two with just a little lag.

You should clip 2 more command pods into each other so it can seat 3 kerbals. (the kerbals will look messed up in the bottom right "IVA" view)

I tried that Xoknight and chose not to use it for that exact reason.

I tried two as well. It causes unsightly texture glitches and to cover those would ruin the simple shape I wanted.

OOH! thanks MK3424. I was wondering about something like that.

When you look on the album i posted on the MIR challenge thread, you can see the solar panels on the Kristall are not rotated towards the sun (they represents heat radiators) , neither the soyuz ones.
