This should honestly be the next addon integrated into the game as a core feature. The ability to generate blueprint style images that can be exported and printed would give us a wonderful tool to show off our designs and to help us get the word out to even more players. Twenty seven thumbs up.

Awesome mod by the way. I'd love if it had toolbar support though, whether it be blizzy78's or stock. :)
Stock toolbar support would be the best. Looking forward to progress on this plugin.
Mostly though a button for Blizzy's Toolbar would be awesome.

If you have the curse version it should be a KVV button in the bottom right.

Really love to see some updates for this. Occasionally it locks up my Save/Load buttons even after reverting the exploded view on OSX.

Sorry for the bugs. I have found about a dozen myself. Will try to address them ASAP

I have been looking for the button but can't see it, is there something I am missing? At the bottom right all I see is the new SQUAD toolbar...

Sounds like you have an older version.

Check curse for the newest version. Be sure to delete the Old KronalUtils plugin files.

What you are describing is the old version

Update looks great, the toolbar button makes a big difference. The UI is kinda huge, but my resolution is on the small size, so I can't complain too much.

One bug that seems to have cropped up is that the lower left quadrant of the background is perpetually darker than the other three quarters of the background. I tried different crafts and background colors and the problem persisted. I'll upload screenshots if need be.

I'm not using the newer version - do the RGB sliders work yet? That's what I use in the original Kronos release to make the background a consistent color

Seems like the slides partially work. The only way to get a consistant background color is to have all of the 'Mid Color' settings zero'd out. If you do that, you can adjust the background colors with the other RGB set. If you don't though, you get the off-color lower left quadrant.

ya the beta version was worse. You also want a big enough window that people can preview their stuff easily. This thing is full of UI problems but a lot of the solution to the bugs can be fixed through better UI. That toolbar was in 0.0.1 big thanks to El_Padina for that.

The original Kronal used a default white background. If you changed the colour sliders that weird discolouration issue would show up. Just uncheck 'blue print' and it'll pop back to white. The problem is the white part of the ships bleed into the background so there are complaints its rendering wrong when the background was white.

Yes El_Padina did the work to get that to work.

ya just play with the sliders and settings to get the results you want.

Is there a way to alter the view angle to get a top or bottom view rather than side? I'm having trouble getting good shots of a mech I made that had to be started in one orientation then rotated and completed before launch.

Yes it is possible. This sort of stuff is coming soon though.

If someone wants to contribute; it would be a easy add.

What are the plans for this mod? I like the current stuff it can do (aside from the lower left corner being darker)

One feature that would be awesome would be the ability to use more than one craft file in one picture, to do like side by side comparisons. (although it's easy enough in any photo editor, I used Microsoft Paint myself and it worked fine)

Another cool feature would be to use a picture background instead of a solid color.

Set the color to pure black, even if you have dark objects on your ship due to the rendering it won't be exactly (0,0,0). Then just import into an image editor and use a magic wand tool to remove the black. Now you can layer on top of any image

What are the plans for this mod?

Version 0.24.x (KSP Version Sync) Targets:

  • [bug Fix] Get UI flow so its impossible to save broken ships (a lot of work)
  • [bug Fix] Engine fairings don't always disappear/work
  • Explosion/Separation factor should be controlled by a dial
  • Independent preview window
  • [bug Fix] Moving the vessel away from the 0,0,0 position will cause the dials not to work correctly
  • Settings/Dials persistence (save state of dials/settings based off saved file/vessel)
  • Vessel Rotation buttons decreased increments
  • Generally using the GitHub Issues to keep track

Wish List:

  • SVG/WebGL export
  • Vessel Data Export (Text/JSON/XML file) which would be integrated with KSP Engineer
  • Screenshot Vessels outside editor(s)
  • Set dials to different settings based on presets (Menu/Save&Load?)
  • Make all dials make sense (if possible) and some are glitchy
  • [bug Fix] Bottom left square of preview is discoloured

High Priority Improvements:

  • Stability/UI flow to create stability
  • White Line Artifacts (Images over ~4000px in height)
  • Kerbal Stuff Version checking
  • Part Explosion/Separation & visibility made generic/hookable/right-click-menu'd (modded parts need to be accounted for rather than waiting for people to contribute)

Next Version 0.0.3:

  • Higher resolution output (started)
  • UI controls for above
  • Click trap so you can't click behind the window (done)

When I get the version caught up with KSP will start a new thread with an official announcement.

One feature that would be awesome would be the ability to use more than one craft file in one picture, to do like side by side comparisons.

Another cool feature would be to use a picture background instead of a solid color.

I will be steering clear of making posters or whatever. Text layout can be a pain and I think that the community that would really want to do this wouldn't want to be restricted by a plugin. That and for it work properly it'd need a lot of tools/dials and UI which photoshop will just do better.

My goals with this mod is to make it so that people can be given tools to share their creations in the most flexible way possible while still being easy to use.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
