I would love to create SciFi alike Starships with working subsystems, shuttles, probes and stuff. Until now i keep my ships under 1k parts when finished, to get a solid and playable frame rate.

How many parts are you putting on your ships that you are getting lag? I have not run into it while piloting.

Um - 800 tonnes in orbit and probably 600-800 parts docked in 3-5 sections.

If lag and the 2.5km loading limit didn't exist, I would probably attempt to build (1:1) Sci-Fi spacecraft from Star Trek (Borg Cubes), Stargate, Star Wars, Andromeda, etc.

With regards to Dyson spheres....I think any civilization with the ability to make one is beyond needing the power of the sun! I mean what DO you need that much power for anyways? Maybe just to power a computer powerful enough not to lag?

I would love to create a Dyson sphere, but I don't think KSP would let me do it because of three things. One is loading it on proximity: you would have to be within 2.25 kilometres from the center of the sun, which is well within its radius. Two is the time you would need to construct such a monstrosity: I would get bored while creating one percent of the whole structure. Three is orbital mechanics and structural stability. Nothing stands still in space. Things are constantly freefalling with a lateral velocity. If you were to build a Dyson sphere, its poles would rotate, but otherwise they would stand still above the sun's poles, resulting in a great inward force. That would put a lot of stress on the megastructure, eventually resulting in rapid disintegration.

I'd build a massive orbiting cillinder. The likes of the following dimensions: 1-2km long and 250-500meters in diameter and Put all sorts of living space habitats on the inside. So to create a artofficial orbiting town with artofficial gravity.

If I tried that now (with lag) I'd probably experience 1 frame every 15minutes to 1 hour or so.

A full scale colony on Laythe with hundreds of kerbals vehicles, spaceport, seaport, ships, habitats, hangars, etcetera. Now it lags with just 1 habitat, 1 tower, 2 planes, and 1 rover... Kinda sad.

I would say huge ships but I build those anyway and suffer through the lag. I can never seem to bring enough fuel. They reach the Jool system with little to spare.

A Minmus base, working with a big ol' ISS-sized station in Minmus orbit to service a similarly sized research station over the Mun, a crew way station in LKO, and another in Kerbin synchronous orbit as a dock for interplanetary ships. Said ships would probably carry enough payload to start a colony on Duna and Ike in one go. Each.

Scale that all back a little bit and it becomes less "if lag didn't exist" and more "if you had all the time in the world".

I would build my giant Joolian mothership. I myself I have had to go back and redesign it because my CPU was crying as soon as I added the 12th giant NERVA core in the VAB. It wasn't even halfway done at that point.
