Community Mun Base

Just a quick question, should the new Munbase thread be Community Munbase II, Community Munbase 2 or Community Munbase 2.0? Also, should I start it now or after 0.14.2?

I like Community Munbase 2.0

An I\'d suggest waiting for 14.2, wont be too long until released, an we would have nearly two months of launching until 0.15 is out.

I still feel strongly about having a persistance file, dedicated to Vanilla (Stock) Parts only.

I know, it would never be as colourful, or big as a MOD filled persistance file, but guarentee\'s compatibility amoung the entire community.

That wouldnt seem very sensible to me. With all the best will in the world the variation of designs with stock parts is very limited , and effectively means that our moonbase would be a 'lander park' , as there aren\'t any modules that even look remotely habitable in the vanilla library.

Call it Mun Base 0142 (0.14.2)?

Asking the community to download one light and quality mod is not unreasonable. Asking the community to download 6 mods + cheater engines + plugins would be unreasonable.

Hey OP, you should edit your first post in this thread linking to the new one and deleting all the other crud. As for the list of people in line, I think you should restart it in the new thread due to the fact some people may be inactive. And we should get a mod to lock this thread.

Yeah, I actually just decided on redoing the list. Also, with mod-maker\'s permission, I\'m going to see if I can make a centralized mod pack so you only have to download one file.

I believe there should be two saves, one allowing mods, and one for stock only. Perhaps there could be more than one save for mods, with different allowances for each. But without a doubt there should be a pure stock one.

I have to agree that any Vanilla ships, will NEVER look like an inhabitable, mun bases.

But isn\'t that the point, its not like KSP even factors in for electricity or oxygen yet.

I have suggested this, however trbinsc (OP) doesn\'t seem keen on this idea.

I can appreciate why, potentally having to handle an admin two persistance files, would be a headache.

I\'m going to run the mod one, if someone else wants to run the clean one in the same thread or a different one, that would be fine.

I think that would be the best idea.

It could be linked up with the stock repository thread.

So who wants responsibility?

Perhaps we pick a crater , and have one side stock , the other mod?

On the same save? It looks good but since it contains mod parts it would never load on in a stock game.

P.S. I\'m all ready to go when the new thread comes around.

KSP 0.14.2 is breaking compatibility with Present .craft files.

So I strongly suggest, starting fresh when it comes out.

If no one else objects I\'ll take the responsibility, of the

I am glad you are taking on the stock Mun base, I was worried no one would be interested and I didn\'t want that.

I have another (secret) project planned for 0.14.2 that will consume too much of my time but I should still be able to drop a lander or two on the Mun, hopefully in one piece.

Ok Seanoog, you can do the stock file, but it won\'t be around for long because of the update, that\'s why I\'m waiting to make the new thread. And sirscott, the main reason behind doing a dedicated stock file is because people don\'t want to download mods. Also, I\'m looking into patchers and installers to make downloading easier.

Like you I am a purist, so happily promoting the Stock parts.

Now too twist the Development teams, arm to include there Mun landers, to this colony. 8)

I have no intention of starting yet, like you I am waiting for KSP 0.14.2 to be released.

As it will apparently fix the exploding bug + add the new terrain system, which apparently affects the Mun also.

We could do some scouting about first to look for a good spot :P. Also, as someone previously mentioned, preferably somewhere with a nice view of Kerbin on the horizon ;D

Go for the white streak coming off of one of the large craters. Not sure if it\'s on the equator or not, but it\'s really flat there!

The new terrain generator might mean all the old stomping grounds are unrecognizable, I\'m hoping the cart or a version of it will become stock, I\'m treating it as stock regardless as it\'s just too useful.

The equator? I always leave kerbin, at 90 Degree\'s (East) flying along its equator, I am assuming Kerbin an Mun equators are identical, traveling to the Mun, on the same heading.

I usualy land on the white mun dust, not in a crator which some people recommend.

I\'ll try to find a flat as possible area, but part of the challenge should be landing on less than a perfect spot, I have landed on Mun hills, in small an large-ish craft.

But I am a relitivly experianced pilot, the community should be open to all members.

I am for landing, an moving on, with ample fuel, if I dont find an ideal landing spot initially.

trbinsc, what did you do with the old flight list?

An have you created Community Mun Base 2.0 thread yet?
