Hi @Beale, I have recently found valuable data on the N1 that this mod would greatly improve from, I would like to contribute to TantaresLV's N1 but I need to know if you'd prefer me to modify the current models and textures or start from scratch

Is there a way for you to show us this data?

Well I would be delighted if you do it either way. Obviously all the source assets are there free to modify (give me a PM if you can't find them). But starting from scratch has advantages too. But yes this data sounds very mysterious! Can you share?

Also... Keep in mind some reference material is not ...legal to have on your hard drive. Secret documents etc. Please don't share anything not publically available with me if you have gotten your hands on it, and I would not want it in the mod if that's its origin.

The data i found was from legal sources, simply really hard to come by due to the language barrier and contradicting numbers, but after comparing across everything i found, the result was credible numbers and hardware for the roll control jets and verniers throughout the development of the N1

Basically no more wondering how this massive monolith steered across all its stages

I cannot share my findings yet due to how messy it is atm, but I will make sure to share the document here once I'm done

Fascinating info! Also something to add:

A while ago i found some info regarding future iterations of the N1 rocket, these would have verniers kinda in the style of the early Atlas rockets and more gridfins, 8 if my mind doesnt trick me.

They would have 4
After N1-6L's failure more roll control was needed, that's when the 11D121 vernier engine was developped and flown on N1-7L and planned for future N1 launches

Kinda out of the blue idea that's related to pretty much nothing that's being worked on rn but hear me out...

Custom launch shrouds for the Salyut/Almaz/Zvezda station modules. Idk if they could be done in SAF since it appears at least some of them were asymmetrical, but just throwing it out there since I think the stock fairing system is really starting to show its age especially with all the new visual mods that have been coming out lately. (I've noticed that stock fairings look really weird with Deferred)

Yeah it would be nice if Tantares could get a revamped SAF fairings update.

More fairings are definitely warranted. I'll make the soyuz ones (Plan on doing atleast all the major flown fairings) and if beale isn't up to make Proton ones, i could do them aswell.

I think having stock fairings is a nice option for more "unique" uses, but yeah SAF is just much better.

Depending on how asymmetrical they are they could definitely be done with SAF. Maybe with an inaccurate split but better than nothing.

Will the SAF expansion include Vostok and Voskhod fairings? Those need a dedicated part much more than most fairings do in order to replicate them properly (for reasons that are obvious if you know what they look like).

How would the Soyuz fairings work, assuming you're including the crewed ones? If I remember correctly, an aborting Soyuz gets carried aloft inside the top portion of the fairing via the LES.

Or are you banking on the assumption that nobody will have to use the LES?

They would have to be separate parts that come together to make the fairing/ escape set up. Like how the Artemeis construction kit does it but way more parts and complexity

I don't think it would add that much parts, one for the LES, one for the upper fairing and another for the lower fairing, both of those with a part switch for the other side
I'm not sure but I think that's how RN's Soviet mods do it, and it works
