[1.12.X] Tantares - Stockalike Soyuz and MIR [26.0][18.12.2023][Things are happening]

That at least keeps you close to stocklike rather than doing high fidelity recreations that can only be used one way so theres that going for the idea.

But theres been a bunch of people throwing ideas and pictures at you..honestly, do the stuff that makes you smile. I'm pretty sure anything you create will get used because thats the beauty of your parts, they can be lego if you want them to be.

Hmm. Let's fix that. What's not working, and what's the behavior? What versions of TweakScale, Tantares, and the config are you running? Any suspects that would cause conflict?

Funnily enough, I updated all the aforementioned mods/configs and now it works just fine. I have no idea what the problem was, nor do I know what the solution was, but I don'y have to worry about it anymore.

since this mod is mostly about Soviet orbital spacecrafts, have you considered making Buran parts?

With the MK3 parts the only parts you would need to make would be:

http://4everstatic.com/imagenes/674xX/aviacion/astronaves/transbordador-espacial-buran-ruso,-motores-de-un-trasbordador-espacial-148808.jpg

-the RCS things on the back

-the black thing that contains the parachute

and a slightly different MK3 cockpit.

PLEASE! WE NEED THAT PART!

But really, don't kill yourself. Just make the back section, with engines, fuel, and RCS. No need to overcomplicate/RAM the thing by adding in new parachutes, cockpit, ect.

Hmm. Dunno. Beale has said many times he's not really into plane/spaceplane parts. The Kliper is about as close as he's gotten to aero parts. It's kinda tough to do with KSP's fluctuating balance system.

Funnily enough, I updated all the aforementioned mods/configs and now it works just fine. I have no idea what the problem was, nor do I know what the solution was, but I don'y have to worry about it anymore.

Sweet! Please, let me know how it works for you, what you like, don't like, and would change. Feedback is really valuable.

Also the MPLM is finally in game. I'm dubbing it "Bernoulli Logistics Module." Beale's tutorial for Unity worked like a charm. I'll be posting an alpha for it when I iron out kinks. First in-game KSP part guys. :)

Does it contain really large anchovy pears? In that case (heh, 'case'), yum! :D Can into space indeed!

Joking aside, if this is a crewed thing. I want it. :) Edit: Even if it's not I still want it. Looks like a useful bulky sci-fi thing I could go crazy with creatively and build something unique again.

Delivering the second major module to Mir 2:

cl4PUpg.png

The shuttle is STS-6E by inigma. The module being delivered is the first Universal Docking Module, which features five passive docking ports on the bottom node, one active port at the other end. This particular UDM also features two 1.25 meter APAS ports for mounting truss segments. at the other end of the station is Soyuz TM-1, which carried the first crew to the station a few days prior. it is docked to a small docking compartment carried to the station the same way as Pirs/Poisk were delivered to the ISS.

When the station is complete, it should be able to accommodate at least three Soyuz/Progress spacecraft. There will be a fourth place, but I haven't decided whether I should convert that to accept shuttles or keep it as a fourth place for Soyuz to dock.

That looks great! What kind of part is it?
I'd assume a cargo-carrying part (monoprop, fuel, ore, life support) with maybe 1-2 crew capacity?

Ok, someone's going to have to explain T'Flok's reference to me... Totally beyond me. Heh.

To answer all of your questions, I haven't decided what's going in it yet. I have no ability to configure or create IVAs at the moment. I want it to be able to hold crew, charge, and a bit of monopropellant, but I don't want Kerbals to be able to EVA out of it. That means no hatch. Hatches are ugly. Crew can only go in via crew transfer. No idea how this will work in game. As I said, first experience with part creation.

Texture is far from done. Even the model could be better. Think I might make the raised panel divisions shallower. I'll wait for input from other add-on authors.

Next up will be a pair of CBMs for it, and possibly a PMM, however I'm not sure what Beale is planning to do as far as CBMs and PMMs go, so I'd defer to his parts for now.

Alpha release will be tomorrow night, though it's fairly useless at the moment. Consider this album also the teaser for a Buran craft file featuring a lot of Tantares parts. I think I'll forgo the launcher until AB Launchers is up and running again.

Hey Beale, I would like to see (Of course if you are able to) a Buran Propulsion module. Not the whole Buran because we have stock parts, but just an engine to fit them.

Anyway Black Arrow is really awesome!

Could you make a mercury retropack and nose cone, it is one of the things that annoys me most in KSP

I use the tiny light grey tantares monoprop engine (POL I think? Im not on my KSP comp and cant double check the name) as the mercury retro engine, and for the cap I usually just stick a tiny-radius battery on top between the capsule and chute.

(assuming using the mk1 pod)

good job on black arrow! and cant wait for what craft you pick to put in the pack from the looks of it from the poll, perhaps a Agena like craft for your Gemini?

Hehe, Is ok. I was talking about a tropical pear/fruit you can buy over here from a few shops in a can where the nut part has been already removed and the sweeter part of the pear is floating in a liquid in the can, there are several pears in that can. Quite yummy!

Anyway. Interesting part! :) Would rep but can't. :(

And what's the word on the Angara if I may ask? I was looking forward to that!

Naturally the PPTS needs a launch vehicle :)

Would anyone be able to advise me as to which parts have had 0.9375 versions added, and which of the 2 duplicate configs corresponds to the older 0.625 versions. I love the 0.9375 versions as I use tweakscale and procedural parts so they fit perfectly and would like to remove the 0.625 versions to save some ram and declutter part lists. Thanks!

Only Tantares_Orbital_A to the best of my knowledge :)

I've considered this when doing my part for AB launchers. But I think as a misc. part maybe it is better suited here?

Anyway, it's a nice idea. The only big problem is matching Porkjet's art style!

Nice.

Glad the tutorial was helpful! Congratulations on storming so far in such a short time!

About the indents, you ask for feedback: Tried making the indents somewhat diagonal? than straight, will help with the specular I say too.

I notice the top parts are hard edges, intentional? But, the art is nice and could be used for a whole suite of your parts (nudge, nudge) .

Wow!

A beautiful shot, mind if I use in the album? :)

Nice SSTO!

Fairing flags? :)

Hi Beale, is this recolour available anywhere yet ? :)

Sadly not yet.

If anyone can point me in the direction of a standalone Photoshop CS3 / CS6 DDS plugin, I can get them out of the door real quick!

How about the "Neck" as a fairing part? similar to the HGR Spud.

Very awkward to size this thing. Either end up with something like a "shock plate" or use some kind of niche adapter part or use this kind of fairing setup.

I think you can make a curved upper boundary of decoupler or make it totally hollow, it will be ok to use it with other parts and fit the spherical capsule at the same time. :)

What? What happend to simply making a 0.9m bottom for the vostok? Why can't you simply sunk the node into the heat shield like ever other pod?

I don't quite understand what you're describing :sealed:

Something like this?

Not at all! I'd love to see it in the album!

Will do!

Couple of difficulties, first the point of contact would be too large and alter the shape from a sphere to something odd.

With the fairing, the point of contact is 0.9375m.
