So I'm out of school, and have 2 and a half months of doing nothing but play KSP.

I want to do something fun over this summer break. I've already landed on all the planets, built a space station, all that other stuff. Over spring break I worked on a fleet of battleships, and built a refueling station along with a dry dock for the battleships. I built an Apollo Replica a couple weeks ago, too. But now I just don't know what to do to waste. I just fly around jets near the VAB, pretending I'm shooting other jets, making "pew pew" noises. I have some mods installed, but only small ones, like the Enterprise mod, just fun novelty mods that serve no real purpose, because I try to stay away from mods like Nova-Punch, or Interstellar. So I guess I have a couple of options of how to spend my summer.

1. I could build giant, WhackJob-like ships, capable of near FTL if infinite fuel is on.

2. Make a model, and mess with folders, make my first mod.

3. Learn how to cheat the aerodynamics, like Mareczex, and make neat replica jets.

4. Make a youtube let's play series (Such an original idea, I know), and do whatever.

5. Buy a few other games, and play those.

Or 6. Go find some friends outside of my house.*

I really don't know what to do. If you guys wanna discuss this, well, I made this thread, of course I want you to discuss this, but if you decide to give me feedback, would appreciate it if you add suggestions on what to do.

NOOOO don't give into the outernet.

If you want good games go get War Thunder off stream for free. If you are willing to spend some money go get Fallout 3 and New Vegas as well as killing floor for some good ol zombie killing.

That should keep you going for a few years.

As far as other games go, Manley did a nice roundup of some bridge building games. Much like KSP, you get to build stuff and watch it succeed beautifully - or fail spectacularly.

Or, go and launch some actual model rockets :)

As far as KSP mods go, I've yet to try it, but I love the looks of this one: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/74625-0-23-5-Professor-Phineas-Kerbenstein-s-Wonderous-Vertical-Propulsion-Emporium-0-16a

I've also enjoyed using Near Future Technologies. If you fancy having delta-V to burn, but find KSPI a bit dauntingly complex, give it a go.

Does this count as model rocketry, or do you mean SRB's?

This is the only picture I had of it, sorry if the people annoy you.

That's not an Inspirational Picture of a Large Model Rocket, so as to Convince You That Rocketry Would Be a Good Use of his Time. (IPLMRCYTRWBGUT, for short.)

This is.

Please do this over the summer. There aren't enough model rocketeers in this world.

(Also, my avatar shows what happens when rockets go wrong. That's pretty cool too.)

Can I build custom ones, or should I stick with store bought ones for a day or so?

Or should I try adding an upper stage to my current bottle rocket?

While all your Kerbal plans seem noble I would recommend getting a girlfriend instead. They are fun to play with too.

But I'm the guy on the left. But that is also a bad picture of me.

Psh. Outside is probably the worst video game there is. Sure, the graphics are amazing, but there's this horrible lens flare effect in the sky that ruins your ability to see clearly if you look anywhere in its general direction. Also it takes way too much grinding to level up, and way too long to do pretty much anything else as well. Worst of all, it's pay-to-win and has non-optional permadeath.

I'd say you should totally go for modding. well.. Coding in general that is. You have no clue how useful it is in the long term , it's very under rated and I believe every person should have a basic understanding of computer code. Moreover, you'd be making your own mods! how fun !! :D

Cheers and happy vacation!

Be sure to put a solar probe orbiting Kerbol at a very low altitude. Then check on it at least twice a week.

That way when summer is over you can tell people, "Yes, I did get some sun."

I personally fear a Kerbalvention any day now myself......

LOL! Yes! And put lots and lots of solar panels on it.

2. Make a model, and mess with folders, make my first mod.

This FTW.

Making something is WAY better than playing with something anybody else made.

BUT... don't understimate the power of Option 6.

Seriously, KSPing and coding are best suited for long fall and winter rainy days.

I vote 2, 5, and 6. There's this really cool game called "outside", it's been around for a while but it get updated a lot. It's great if you like free-roam RPG's

I hear this "Outside" has great graphics, but the gameplay is terrible. I vote #3,

Learn C#, build some addons. You get to play KSP and develop legitimately valuable skills in the process. Even if you don't go into software development, knowing a real programming language or two looks great on a resume.

Not really wanting to code yet, just want to make a model, and play with settings.

Really, I just want a battlestar, and have that be it, then start something else, sorta how StarVison started out.

Outside is very over rated

Ok so the GFX and sound are great, its a nice sandbox enviroment where you can do what you like, but it has some horrible drawbacks in that there are no reverts, no respawns, and you only get 1 life, plus in order to do anything in 'Outside' you need money, so you end up doing mindless repative tasks over and over in order to earn money, which cuts down on your time available to play in 'outside' properly, then theres the huge number of rules in 'outside' the breaking of which get you placed in a game area called prison, which has no time advance features and you have to serve the sentence in real time.

All in all, outside sucks

I'd stay indoors playing KSP for the next 3 months

Boris

PS I'm someone who did just that.. but then I was very sick recovering from emergency heart surgery... ;.;
