Lilleman
@5thHorseman: You should try a different install folder ("ksp64" instead of "KSP_64" for example) and check if nothing is read-only.You can also try the files from the link a few post above, just to be sure you used the right ones.@Ravyne: Logitech keyboard/mouse? I also have this problem, a right click anywhere and everything's back to normal. Also, I'm asking for the first page because I won't be able to check the thread until NEXT sunday. Superfluous J
@Lilleman thanks for the suggestion but I got it working. Thanks! Also, I wouldn't be surprised if this was still a buzzing topic in a week and a half. And in any case, just check your recent posts when you get back or make a bookmark of the thread in your browser. That's of course if they don't sticky your post and/or you can't find it when you get back. And by "working" I mean "it only crashes every few launches." Once was a proper crash (wrote a log file if anybody wants it) and one was just the whole game locked up and I had to close the program. KSP takes too long to reload it every few minutes, especially because the main (only?) benefit of this is to load more mods which means it'd take even longer to load each time.Sadly I'm going to check the "doesn't work" box, but don't get me wrong: This is an extremely exciting development! Lilleman
Remember, for the testing purpose, please start from a CLEAN version of KSP, and load one mod at a time. Please report it non-working only if you can't start a clean version or a very slightly modded version.Mods are not supposed to be compatible yet. Edited June 7, 2014 by Lilleman That's a thing to add to the first page!
AlternNocturn
Tempted to try this out. I've got 16 gigs of RAM and I just might fill up my mods folder to see where the limit is.
Westi29
If you followed up on this, you'll know that he didn't find a way to do this with Mac OS. No one's found a work-around for Mac OS X as of yet.Yeah, sad. Jumped in mid thread from the reddit link.

I suggest checking it all (update all drivers, disable OC (if any), run some OC apps like LinX for several hours)

Major Gene
Started with clean install. loaded mods 1 at a time. Intersteller worked, Novapunch worked, RT2 worked, TAC life support worked, Robotics worked, mechjeb and engineer worked, B9 does not work (many crashes) same with KW and ferram. I will bypass them for now and continue loading mods.
KAO
Did you overwrite KSP's version of mono.dll with the proper file? Check your install to make sure you didn't put it in the wrong directory or something.I did everything correctly, it's just that I am starting to see these access violation errors, now of both mono.dll and KSP.exe
Probus
I've noticed a clean install makes a huge difference. Can anyone else verify that if you try to load pre-built ships from some of the mods or saved games, the 64-bit game crashes most of the time?Clean install definitely seems to be the key. Robotengineer
Has anyone had issues with hull cam after updating mono? I updated my mono and unity.dll's and related files, it crashed when trying to load Hullcam, and no significant memory improvements yet. Still working on it some, though with less effort. If anyone has had any success on mac, please tell me.
Virtualgenius
Ok I have this running as well with all my mods all 4 gb of them, I have had some random crashes but all in all nothing that doesnt happen under the 32bit version. One thing I have noticed running under the default dx9 setting it uses far more memory than if you force it to use dx11 the difference is staggering almost 5 gig, I get some shimmering around the KSC launchpad and buildings but I can live with that also some of the right click menus fade in and out of focus slightly but all in all I would say a success for heavily modded installs. My next question is directed at SQUAD would you entertain the idea of releasing 64 bit executable for those of us on windows 64bit, I dont care that it randomly crashes it crashes anyway under 32bit so for me its a far better solution I can run with the graphics turned up, I don't need memory management mods runs smoother no slide show from launch performs far better all round.I have included 2 pics to show the memory differenceJavascript is disabled. It would before the line was added, crash on loading of my save.

captainreynolds
Does anyone know if the Mac or Linux version of KSP are 64-bit? Whenever my Mac version of KSP has over/near 2GB of ram, it crashes. But I seem to recall reading that the Mac version was already 64-bit.

loch.ness
Ran into a weird situation when I tried it, will need to poke and prod it more:When I backed up a copy to a seperate hard drive particition (F) and modified it for 64 bit it still ran from the Game Data files on C drive. The upper left corner icon showed the unity symbol instead of the KSP icon and the loading process pretty much froze google chrome. After loading it ran fine with little to no lag even when launching a 500 pt monster in a mod free run. Then I reinstalled all mods except for texture manager and it ran well (I can't honestly say how different it was because I had smaller craft on my action cue for a change, so I'm not sure how it would handle the lag-ariffic dockings I had been doing the last few days). The EVE clouds from space looked much nicer though and everything felt very crisp.I tried dropping those files on top of my C: install and it crashes on loading the a fore mentioned save file.Haven't put anything onto the poll yet because I still have some trouble-shooting to do. Will need to clean out my install file of all mods and then test them one by one. I see some people have trouble with Active Texture Management, I've taken mine out for now (crashes on load with it right now).I'll report back later once I have a clean install and then begin modding it. Darineth
I generally run with a heavily modded install, with lots of bits stripped out of various mods to keep memory usage down as much as possible. My existing mod set was pretty hopeless with this, so I decided to roll with a clean install and see where I could get. I have had some temporary successes with KW Rocketry, but nearly any plugin-based mod causes random crashes, especially when doing any kind of mouse input. I've had it crash just trying to click to load a save, clicking to add or modify parts in the editor, and even right clicking to get a context menu for a part once in-game. This has occurred with nothing but Deadly Reentry and KW Rocketry installed.
tygoo7
This is probably the best thing ever. I was a bit scared to use this because of my modded install and stuff but when I did, I didn't experience any crashes just like the 32-bit one but the best thing is that I can have tons of mods without worrying about RAM usage! I will report any bugs I see but so far the only one that I notice is the flashing of the Astronaut Complex but that's not a big deal.

Lilleman
If you're voting "not working/crashing", can you explain briefly where it crashed and if you used any mod? We need to collect some data to figure out what's not working.
