This mod is awesome. However, it does have a significant limitation: it's exclusively a self-directed/sandbox-type experience. That is, the only way to utilize the content of this mod is by building things to blow up other things you built, just for the fun of it. Don't get me wrong, this can certainly be fun. But I believe it could be far more fun if it were possible to accept contracts in career mode that would allow you to blow things up with a sense of strategy and purpose.

Ideally, this would be accomplished by adding a "Destroy Target" contract, which would spawn a pre-designed target (ground-based, orbital, or perhaps even airborne) when the contract is accepted. In some cases, the target would be equipped with weapons and set to "guard" mode for additional challenge.

If spawning targets is not feasible from a coding standpoint, then an alternative approach would be adding an initial "Deploy Military Drone" contract, which would involve constructing a probe with specified weaponry (and perhaps a special part which designates it as a military drone), deploying it to a designated location or orbit, and setting it to guard mode. Having an operational military drone would open the possibility of being offered a "Destroy Rogue Drone" contract, which would inform you that a specific drone is no longer under your control and needs to be destroyed.

This is a really good idea.

The problem King_komodo93 mentioned would be easily fixable by us.

We can make the vehicles which spawn at those missions, then they would be sorted by kind and difficulty to take down.

Lasers can destroy whatever you trow at it, AA's can beat you easily.

So having several kinds of missions that not only require us to trow missiles at something but even drop a tank for a safer approach would be really awesome.

Also, targets on other planets too.

Edit: maybe even, on the future, airplanes at trajectories on rails which you have to escort while passing by a dangerous area (some turrets) or even take down!

If tweakable explosives are realized that should be easy enough to make yourself :)

Would it be possible to make something that can predict the effective range of a weapon based on the altitude, attitude, accuracy, and muzzle velocity of the turret?

I think a good part of the fun is figuring that out yourself. I will repeat my mantra: tools, not solutions.

I'm reluctant to make beyond-visible-range weapons because of the current physics range limits. Even extending the physics range to just 10km brings up problems like exploding landed crafts (they clip through the ground since the terrain detail is lower at a distance).

How did InfiniteDice do it then? In skillful, the physics bubble starts at 10km, and expands up to 99km depending on target distance. And it's perfectly stable. (at least in the sense of physics bubbles)

It might be worth it to shoot him a message asking him how he did it. He's pretty nice, he might just tell you flat out. :)

He should make physics bubble around some projectiles, like rods from the gods mentioned by me

Heh, yeah the flares are essentially Whack-a-kerbal balls. I might change that..

About phys range - I took a peek at the Skillful source code and didn't find anything that dealt with terrain issues, but eh I might ask him later anyway if I can't figure it out.

Thinking of doing a military KSP series, similar in style to Macey dean or EnterElysium. Dont get me wrong this mod is a lot of fun, but the guns are just a tad OP. Any chance you can show us how to modify the weapons in the configs to make them weaker? Anyways, keep up the good work and cant wait for the next update.

Dear BahamutoD

Can you add some British weaponry and some more bombs (E.g a 1000lb, 250lb and a 2000lb) also could you change the bombsight back to the white one which followed the terrain AND more machine guns.

Bahamuto, what is your vision of this mod? I appreciate that you are so receptive of requests, but I see a point appearing on the horizon where just following those means an unwieldy amount of parts or a strange balance in what it does. I would not dream of telling you how to do what you do, but you might make it easier on yourself if you outline some basic goals.
