Ok. Got my Apollo Unit working again. Now, to see if these FASA parts can build a big enough Saturn-V.

Edit: They're not, and that F-1 won't load. Hmmm....

I was fortunate enough to have some classes today (I teach English in Japanese schools), and made a little presentation about Apollo 11 for my students. Didn`t quite manage to get a kerbal recreation for them though :) just powerpoint and some videos. They really seemed to enjoy it, in particular they found out why their apollo chocolate has its shape ( being shaped like the apollo capsule)

Looking forward to celebrating Kerbal style come the weekend!

I will doing a video of the KSA Ker-ploppo XI with the Seagull lander landing at the Mun Arch, I did drop off the small rover I had attached under the land since Apollo 11 did not have a rover. I need to get my actions groups fixed as well so that the escape system will detach once in orbit.

It is nearly all stock except for the aviation lights, I like those blinking lights LOL.

Why are half the rockets here giant bulky asperegus rockets? Not that they are bad rockets, but they aren't much of Apollo Replicas. Apollo replicas should look and act like the Apollo, not just act.

I dunno who has asparagus staging in their rocket, even though my has a ring of 6 boosters on the side they are not asparagus staged. The reason for the bulk is a simple problem of parts available in the stock game and mod, since the available lander can that hold 2 people in stock is bulky it is either you use that or a single man can (modded parts I am not entirely sure what is available).

Curses! I knew I should have waited before I put these up!

Currently in the Apollo/Skylab era in my series, but I've been dying to do a proper KW Apollo. Thought about installing RSS and doing a live stream launch and transfer today, then follow along as close to real-time as I could, but I got a late start and didn't have time to configure and learn to fly RSS on such short notice. Subasean that is awesome. I applaud you!

Thank you! I'm absolutely blown away by the all stock Saturn V lookalikes. Mine was basically just a way to get past Ferram ripping parts off the lander on the way up, which, full disclosure, all credit for the upper stage of the lander goes to someone else, and I'm ashamed to say I can't remember who. All I really did was simplify the descent stage.

This album is part of the Apollo Redirect Mission (A Beyond Apollo Reboot) challenge and covers Apollo XI and XV missions. They're not like the beautiful replicraft seen here and elsewhere, but are functionally accurate (and a dream to fly).

I do have a real replicraft set I call the Von Braun Collection: flying models of Saturn I Block 2, Saturn IB, Saturn V and, of course, V-2. :D

Apollo XI, XV

OK, it's only a little while to go, so here is the ship I shall be using:

Not an exact replica, and not exactly pretty, but it works.

Remember the civil war recreations might give you an idea of how a certain battle was done, but it is far from exact (since no one dies :sticktongue:). So long as you are proud of what you built and enjoy flying it that is what is important, not how others may or may not like it. We do these not to get praise, but rather to remember and honor those that were the first to take that great leap from our humble home of Earth.

Here is my Saturn-V going up, from four days ago.

It looks the part mostly, though glitches prevented me from using the fairings I'd designed for the lander, and FAR ripped of the rest, and the fins....

Also, one other difference. I launched from Australia :sticktongue:
