Edit:

Thinking about it even the 'plant a flag' missions can be exploited ... just maroon a kerbal on Mun, Minmus etc. who plants forrests of flags.

I prefer the term "long term planetary flag mission" rather than maroon :) the Eve one is a very long term mission....

Breaking news, we are proud to announce an mission extension of our first Mun landing into an permanent Mun base. The landing legs, engine and fuel tank worked well as crumbling zone so the landing was successful.

I absolutely like the idea of having to carry scientific payload for missions, parts of varying sizes and attachment points, to be able to do the mission. I agree that a lot of the current missions can be exploited and that will stop part of it.

You would have to leave a pod for him, as he has to return to a pod for both extra flags and EVA fuel...

Rolling in Roots.

However, myself and others here are all busy on the contracts treadmill, so no wonder we are all loaded.

Those excess funds will be handy in building some big craft to head out further, for science and fun, rather than workin for da man.

Had around a million, and then blew most of it developing a new launcher for my Duna mission.

The rocket cost around 200k, and for various reasons, the first 5 attempts ended in failure (although all kerbals survived). I'm playing "hardcore" so just had to suck up the losses. The 6th rocket worked and was able to complete a successful return mission to Duna, which was just as well because I didn't have enough funds for a 7th attempt.

This was effectively the equivalent of an apollo program cost wise, so now my kerbals are going to start thinking about reusable spaceships.

Currently I'm at around 1.4 million. One very easy way to get funds is to do the flag missions assuming you already have a Kerbal on the Mun or Minmus its simply a case of swapping to them and planting the flag and collecting 70-80K. Seems like that's not the way it was intended and I feel I've been exploiting it, so I think I'm only going to do them for new landings from now on.

I've got about 250-300k after about a half-dozen missions. It's been a slow steady build of funds. I'm playing with RT2 again, so two of my missions have been comsats (one in LKO, one in a polar orbit around the Mun). I'm trying to decide if I want to do for my next Mun mission: manned fly-by or probe landing.

I just maxed out the tech tree and am sitting on just over 4 million. It's been ridiculously easy to accumulate funds, so much so that I have never been in a situation where I couldn't launch what I wanted to launch.

I play with KSPI and I modded the part costs to balance their OPness, e.g. an antimatter reactor costs 1 500 000 funds. I can't afford to build even one of my old ships with 3.4 million :/

I have over 3 million now. I have a space station around Kerbin, Mun, Minmus, and on Duna for unlimited funds really. Need a flag on Duna again? Mike Kerman just turns off his soap opera and hops out to plant another flag.

Most of my funds go to tests of my own that give zero back.

What I hate most about these plant a flag contracts is that they seem to appear just after I planted a flag and returned home!!

Using revert flight, I'm around a half million. If I wasn't using revert flight... I'd probably still be above water but be flying more simpler missions than fewer complex missions. It depends how you play, I think.

Aye. They seem to get triggered after you've completed the "explore" contracts for the given planet. I guess it's assumed the "explore" contracts can be completed with an unmanned craft.

2 million, having just launched a 5 probe ship to the joolian system. That should net me several million more. I don't revert, and no quicksave. So I am finding it too easy. I haven't done any part experiments after the first few, rescued one Kerbal, and I stick to one flag per planet. Probes have going to Eve, Gilly, & Duna, and have sent and returned a Kerbal to Ike. Going to throw out my last two probes while the Jool probes transfer, and then ramp up my manned missions. Finding it easy now, but paying for a return trip from Eelo might be harder.

Indeed they do. You just need to "explore" it, go to mission control, get the flag contract, swith back to your landed vessel and complete it.

I cheated...lol

Because of the number of mods I run and the lack of balance of the costs, I just added an additional pair of zeros to the end of my finacial balance amount in the persistant save file.

Problem solved, problem staying solved.

Currently at 3022689.39555655 according to the persistence file. I've knocked out about 55 contracts, but I've only been to Mun twice and Minmus once. None of the planets have come into phase yet, so I haven't left Kerbin's SOI. I'v1e completed up through all the 160 cost tech tree, and 2 in the 300 cost level.
