Best star trek episode (as in whole series)

"What You Leave Behind" is a great great episode, and caps off my favorite series of Star Trek beautifully. I never fail to cry at it, especially the relationship between Captain Sisko and Jake.

But I think the best Star Trek episode over the whole series is "Best of Both Worlds, Parts 1 and 2." Everything in that episode is perfect.

I can't remember the name but the DS9 episode when they go back and meet the original cast on the space station infested with tribbles

I remember watching that original series episode when I was a kid and loved it, so the DS9 one gave me lovely nostalgic glow

It is hard to decide, because there are so many of them - so many episodes in total and quite a bit really good ones.

So I will pick two from my two favorite series:

DS9: In the pale moonlight

(Sisko getting help from Garak to bring the Romulans into the war against the Dominion)

TNG: The measure of a man

(Picard defending Data's right of self-determination against a Starfleet cyberneticist, Riker being forced to make the case against his friend)

Over the years I more and more valued "moral stories", but there are loads of episodes with very strong character stories/scenes.

TNG: Gambit

TNG: Redemption II

(Data in command of the Enterprise and another ship as part of a blockade)

TNG: Face of the enemy

(Troi waking up one morning as a Tal Shiar agent onboard a Romulan ship)

I wonder does any of Star Trek actor really like the series i mean does any of them was star trek fan before the start work, or just they treat it like a job that was need to be done :)

As for DS9 i also like two episode dealing with military putch, Homefront and Paradise Lost

military coup within Starfleet, I am not an American but I see it an intriguing parallels the terrorist attack of September 11, but the episode was filmed in 1996, so the source of Inspiration I see Yanayev putsch in the former USSR.

From what I read, Jolene Blalock was a huge Trekkie prior to her getting a role in the franchise.

The biggest casualty of the Dominion War was

"the self-respect of one Starfleet officer. I don't know about you, but I'd call that a bargain."

It was as much a Garak episode as it was a Sisko one, it showed the audience once more what kind of "tailor" he is.

For me it would be DS9: In the Pale Moonlight

Just so dark, ideals vs. survival. The biggest casualty of the Dominion War was the innocence of the Federation.

Regards.

It was the episode in which Garak fabricated evidence against Dmoinion poi then arranged the assassination of the Ambassador of the Romulan Empire. So it was a memorable episode, yet very informative. Garak was actually pretty good "tailor" a specialist in sewing elaborate intrigue: D

This section can be applied to real life, Garak was a professional szpiegiemm. In the same way they operate, real intelligence agencies like the CIA, MI6, the KGB / FSB. That's what Garak did, called Operation false flag, which he did in a truly masterly style, Romulans believe it and caught the bait, the only person who had the moral dilemmas was Captain Sisko.
