I got it from the store because of bad steam reviews.

Some people love Steam, some people hate it. I hated CDs and DVDs but for a long time it was the only way to play games I love, until Steam came along and changed my life.

I won't touch Origin due to EA and the whole Course Architect thing back for TW07/08 where they ruined my main hobby.

Bought through the store, for a few reasons:

1. Steam is always-online, which would mean I wouldn't be able to play KSP when the internet is out. My poop connection makes that problematic.

2. Modding is easier--you have to dig a bit for the right files in Steam.

3. I don't have to get rid of my old versions--nice if you want to wrap up a save after a save-breaking update hits, plus nostalgia.

Generally, I use Steam for games I can't get anywhere else (Rise Of Nations, TF2, Etc). Otherwise, the always-online thing just isn't worth it.

Whilst I utterly detest Steam, I feel I have to mention that even the Steam version of KSP comes without the Steamworks DRM. So it will play actually-offline and not pretend-offline.

And of course I bought it through the store.

I use Steam because there are no disadvantages of using Steam over KSP Store (you can literally do everything with Steam version you can with the Store version, except the updater but that's not needed) but one huge advantage over using KSP Store.... bandwidth. How many complaints did we see on the forums that people couldn't get the download for 0.24 and 0.25? Steam doesn't have that problem, it's what they do.

Hey, it's isn't the fault of any DRM, it's just how Steam works.

Got it in the KSP store long before it came to Steam.

Haven´t seen a reason since then, to migrate KSP to Steam.

Steam may be faster with updates, but with installs via KSP Store it is more convenient to have multiple KSP versions next to each other.

I have it through steam... for various reasons:

1) It's my main game library, but I do have some of the games on disk in case of offline-ness

2) Most of my games, wherever I want to access them.

3) controls stored for some games, so I don't have to worry about going into options and changing them every time I install

4) Most of the Indie games are DRM free, and so there is no problem playing them if steam decides not to work.

5) It's easy to fix if things go wrong - just delete everything in the steam folder except steam.exe and the steamapps folder, then run the .exe - it will download latest files, fixing the broken updates that can sometimes happen (that are probably the cause of some of the previous poster's problems...)

When .24 came out, I was half-way through a Jool-5 mission, and didn't want to have to start all over again or possibly break my save by editing the persistant file, so just copied the whole game to its own folder and ran it from there until I was done :)

I play KSP through the KSP store.

I bought it way before the Steam version was released, and didn't take the hassle to transfer it.

Also, even if I truly like Steam, I like much more the "direct contact" feel you got from downloading the update directly from developer's website, 't keeps things the indie way ;)

I bought the game through store, simply because at that time there was no Steam version, but recently I transferred it. No downloading speed problems, and I can auto-upload all my screenshots to the Steam cloud. It's handy because I have a bad habit of deleting the whole KSP folders, forgetting to move the screenshots into the new one.
