  1. 1. Hw many times do you accidentally destroy the buildings at the Space Center

    • I turn destructible buildings off :P
    • Every... damn... time
    • Occasionally. My engineering is goof
    • Sometimes - only when Jeb is flying
    • Never - I'm just that good
    • Other - Post please

I've been getting tired of having to rebuild my launch pad and or runways. I Play around with the repulsers from Lo-fi and use Lack Laster Labs hull parts to make MASSIVE hovercraft. EACH one would bounce on the collision model of the repulser and then blow up the runway. that was till i started adding landing legs and had the repulsers off till it loaded in.

Then I have had troubles with LARGE heavy lift craft blowing up my launch pad. I have got around that by hacking gravity using the little thrust as i can till i get to 400 meters or 1000 and then go full blast and turn gravity back on. I'm talking about craft that are several million tons, I've also begun to experiment with docking the larger craft together in orbit and take em up a small piece at a time.

But I've also have boosters take out launch pad, and once a radar dish, I've since make it to were I don't drop boosters till at lest 10km or more.

Thats all for now folks

I destroy the Runway and Launchpad when my craft are too heavy, and I think the Mk1 Command Pod Memorial looks much more appealing as a mount of rubble; but because those are deliberate/unavoidable due to bugs, I never blow the buildings up due to fault or anything... I always play with revert off though, so if I did blow something up, I'd have to pay!

Haven't destroyed any buildings yet. I've broken the pad and runway, after which I turned off destructible buildings. The pad/runway should not break from having a craft resting on them, until that's fixed I'll be leaving it off.

That sums up what I have to do when launching heavy ships... When launching smaller ships I turn it back on though!

Um, never? I personally find it hard to actually destroy buildings besides the occasional launch pad.

Yeah. You either have to be blissfully unaware Revert exists, or an impressively miserable engineer to keep careening rockets backwards into your centre.

Like unless you're building some wild VTOL design, all your rockets should go UP and EAST, if they go up at all.

I've intentionally destroyed the VAB in a career save, I've blown the launchpad, dropped a stage on the Tracking Center, and lithobraked down my runway a few times in jets.

Yeah, it's expensive in Career mode to repair the Very Expensive Buildings, but I don't use the VAB unless I have to.

As for the runway... I've had a few major incidents (Repulsors cracking the runway, bad jet landings, 200 ton aircraft, and launching a space shuttle) but nothing usually ruins it completely. I'm more prone to hurtling into the SPH or busting a runway speedbump - I mean landing light - but I'm known for my oddball craft.

And the one rocket I launched, I flamed out the launchpad with 19 Mainsails at full thrust on my initial stage.

Well, I'm learning to land my space shuttles, the big ones. I didn't manage to land without crashing into the runway, since their gliding properties are simply not what I'm used to from what I've built before. Let's say that in sandbox I destroy the runway pretty much on a daily basis.

However, I've never destroyed anything else, except for the R&D once, when a booster stage went berserk (I've somehow lost a right-side engine) and I had to jettison it at KSC. Does that count as Every... Damn... Time?

Occasionally the immense amount of thrust from huge launchers will destroy the launchpad at launch and the launch has to be aborted, freaking out Bill and Bob. Jeb is still laughing with his famous smile. Check out my signature for their facial expression. Then the Kerbals at the Administration Building frown: "We will have to pay for that again. Too bad it's Wernher von Kerman's day off."
