What animal do you like?

I have the most respect for animals like rats, pigeons & gulls. Whilst other animals have gone extinct due to human activity, these guys have thrived. Screw your endangered condors or giant pandas, the rats haven't cried in the corner about losing their habitat, they've gone on and made their own habitats within human settlements.

I'd like pandas a lot more if they nested in your guttering & fed off of scraps outside fast food restaurants.

Another couple of examples of animals that thrive in human settlements are coyotes, racoons and crows. And among those, I particularly like crows. They are very clever:

Their close relative the raven are quite bright too. I was once laying in an alpine meadow on a summer day, high up on a mountain. A black dot caught my eye plummeting from the sky above me so I watched it. Shortly after, it sprouted wings and arced back up into the sky where it folded its wings back up and enjoyed another period of weightlessness as it fell towards the valley below. It was a raven. It did it three more times before I lost sight of it. All I could think was "I hear you, man. Beautiful day to be alive, isn't it?" You can't tell me that it wasn't doing that for the pure fun of it.

The town where I live gets its name from the number of crows that inhabit it and I live about 100m away from their favourite nesting place, so I'm well experienced in crows!

They seem to be one of the few birds that actually make noise for a reason, as if they're using it for communication rather than to just wake me up at 6am (stupid blackbirds).

This is another good crow-related video:

Blackbirds make noise to control their territory. When they wake up, they are like: "HAVE ANY OF YOU FOOLS ENTERED MY TERRITORY?" If they hear no response from their territory, they get calmer. Then they continue to sing to mark their territory.
