Hey Bev nice entry is that stock RSS or are there any other mods, just curious. And this will be an important entry since if everything checks out you'll be the first to place in the Altered Universe division! As you saw RSS modifiers were in WIP that never made much P. However I contacted Norcalplanner and there will be at least one more additional tweak other than the modifiers so I will recalculate your score and let you know. Might be a couple days but I will be on it!

Ok, thanks!

I also posted one more image following the last image which shows the mass in orbit, but it doesn't show up in the embedded album for some reason.

Also I used KW Rocketry, Procedural Fairings for everything, FASA clamps and KSCSwitcher (I launched from Kourou). Its a bit tough stock alone.

Congratulations, Bev7787! You have completed the Grand Orbital Space Station Challenge with an Altered Universe Division entry scoring 8217 points!

An extra congratulations as being the first successful entry in the Altered Universe division! This station is simple but that is ok, it for me drives home the fun of a mod like RSS where every extra ton adds seriously to the challenge of reaching orbit. That really brings back the thrill to what for most of us has become a monotonous task. I am curious to see what else will be done with RSS in the future! Again, good job and feel free to add the badge to your sig!

-------------------------

Update: RSS Modifiers will be soon be added to the OP with mass penalty/bonus changes as well

I am now prepared to undertake this challenge. The mods currently installed are: AIES, Kerbal Alarm Clock, MechJeb, and Space-Y. This will not change. I hope you look forward to an entry in the future!

This will land you squarely in the Modded division, can't wait!

Hey rustysocket not too late at all, and welcome to the forums! That's a very nice station but I just need a little bit more info for this to be a proper entry. Mainly, since the station appears to be stock I would assume that took more than one launch. If that were the case, the mass of each launch needs to be taken into account separately for the scoring system. If you could post some pictures in the VAB of each launch vehicle all loaded up with Engineer Report open that should do nicely. If you aren't able to do that I could also have you added to the honorable mentions?

If that was a single launch, I'd love to see the boosters

I have a station I'd like to submit, but I can't import the file. I see the Insert Image thingy, and put in the file, but it didn't show up on preview. Any tips?

Sure do, as the rules in the OP require a bit more than just one picture though it would be best to create an Imgur album. It's a lot easier than you think. First, sign up is really simply, there is no email verification or anything so it takes about a minute or two before you're uploading. Second, I also had trouble embedding images and found since these forums work nicely with Imgur I would just use it for all your pictures.

So, after you make an album the link will be pretty short in the address bar with a bunch of numbers and letters after it. Just copy and paste those letters and numbers and type this (removing the red zeroes of course) ----> [im0gur]the pasted stuff[/im0gur] the album will appear magically!

Thanks for the tip, got the album working!

Awesome, just go ahead and post your entry when ready!

Hey, I've done it once, can I do it again? Using RO and my aim is to get a station... Around Mars.

Sure I don't see why not, a higher score would take precedent though in the OP with the lower scoring station simply being noted along side that so people know you've already placed.

First off, here's the link to the album of the station: http://imgur.com/a/ZtJrX?

Second of all, here is the stats (for the advanced tech division!)

5 ports, 2 antennae, all science stuffs, solar/fission power

Orbital mass: 98.7 tons

Kerbals: 35 total, 29 comfy seats

Excessive launch mass: 587 tons

Science lab

No life support mods

1 Manned lander

1 Unmanned miner

Orbiting: Sarnus from OPM! (Let's do 5.5x multiplier?)

Advanced tech division (Near future - argon propulsion)

So, after 3 launches and several alternate dimensions of it getting vaporized, I finally got going to Sarnus. After staying up until 10:30 pm, a solid 2 hours, waiting for the orbit to reach all the way out there, I waited another 9 kerbal years to get to the damn planet! But finally, after a 1 hour deceleration, me and all 35 kerbals arrived at Sarnus, ready to science the life out of it!:sticktongue:

Or to watch it burn in the Sanrnian atmosphere after some time!
