I noticed today that Outer Planets Mod shows up as being on CKAN on KerbalStuff, but isn't on CKAN available for download as far as my client shows. There is a netkan file available for it as well...is there perhaps an error in the netkan file that is causing it to not show on the client?

Well, from what I remember (I'm at work right now), they looked identical in the listing.

Thanks

I'm at home. In the list box, the two entries look identical. In the Metadata, they also look identical. Relationahips as well. Contents shows different for each.

I shouldn't have to look at the contents to see the differences.

Edit: I just tried it with the 1.5.1 version. This one shows a difference in the metadata, the release status on one is development, the other is stable

If you are having download timeout issues try this beta CKAN 1.5.1 build.

Putting it to a torture test right now. Me and my 100kbps download speed.

Well 20 minutes later and it is still going so thats a step in the right direction!

If you are having download timeout issues try this beta CKAN 1.5.1 build.

So the good news is that it doesn't timeout the transaction anymore if you have really long downloads. I let it go for 2-3 hours? without any problem.

However, before it was done I hit cancel to see how it would handle that and as before, it does so very badly, leaving some mods installed and others not, and basically leaving the entire mod install in an indeterminate state. IMHO if it doesn't successfully install every single mod it expected to, then it should roll back to the last good state.

EDIT: Actually looks like I spoke too soon. This appears to be a GUI bug only. Upon restarting CKAN the state looked as expected. A visual inspection of GameData confirmed that.

There seems to have been a big reversion of the index today for some reason - a lot of my installed mods no longer have current versions listed in "available" and are showing "X" or "*" in "list".

e.g. SpaceY-Lifters is showing 0.6.1 and I have 0.7 installed, ShipManifest isn't showing as available at all.

This was a mistake by one of ours bots, all should be fixed now.

Are these meant to be installed together (optionally)? If not, the dev version shouldn't be on CKAN, right? Otherwise this mod list is going to get unwieldy.

Hey all,

I recently (mostly) switched from KSP-Mod Admin to CKAN, and me likey. I have a couple of questions / oddities that I am hoping someone will clear up for me.

1. What does "Incompatible" mean in the filters. I see, for example, TAC LS is listed there. Since TAC LS is used on the forum page as an example of a mod in CKAN, it makes me believe that it is not that it is incompatible with CKAN. I don't think it means that it is incompatible with my other mods, as it was listed as "Incompatible" when I was vanilla. Could it mean incompatible with the current version? I don't think so, as TAC LS has been updated for .90. So I am at a loss on this one.

2. Why are some items included and others not, when apparently CKAN includes parent / child / sibling items? For example, Universal Storage is present, as is US KAS, but US TAC isn't.

3. What does "Mark All Updated" do?

4. I just noticed when I came here to post that CKAN has an update. Is there an updater for CKAN within CKAN, and I just missed it? It seems strange to me that CKAN would tell me when my mods have been updated, but not when it itself has been.

5. When I first switched over to CKAN form KSP Mod Admin, I noticed it confused itself while installing my mods. First, I removed my mods from my Gamedata directory using KSP Mod Admin. Then I attempted to re-add them. My first run through, I missed a .pdf file, and CKAN errored out of the install, informing me as it did so that it was reverting to my previous gamedata, but it didn't. During its attempt to install, it installed Community Resource Pack and Firespitter core, neither of which I had selected but were installed as dependencies. Having installed them on its own, CKAN did not revert to the previous state when it errored out. Further, although I had never selected CRP or Firespitter core for install (they were added by CKAN automagically) CKAN ticked the checkboxes when it errorred out. When I fixed the issue of the .pdf and tried to install my mods again, CKAN saw that CRP and Firespitter were already installed (by it) and errored out again. It took me a while (okay, I was tired) to figure out what was going on.

Let me say that I really like CKAN. I would like to use one mod manager, and having tried both CKAN and KSP Mod Admin, I prefer CKAN. Unfortunately, it looks like a few things (TAC LS, US TAC, and NRAP) aren't available with CKAN (the last two aren't even listed in the repository). Is there any intent to add the ability to manually install and maintain a mod that isn't "supported", or am I *doomed* to having to use both CKAN and KSP Mod Admin? (Please note the melodrama in the use of the word *doomed*. Also, please say it in a really deep voice when reading aloud.)

Thanks!

Scott

Mine doesn't show some mods that I think it should, for example B9 doesn't show up under any of the filters. Is there something I need to change?

It shows up in mine... B9 Aerospace Pack by author bac9 and B9 Style Shuttle Wings by gilbr0ther.

I installed KAX through CKAN today but it didn't extract the firespitter directory in the KAX archive, which contains a .cfg, and which resulted in no parts being loaded by the game on startup. I checked the file that CKAN downloaded, and it definitely has a firespitter folder in there, but it did not get extracted and does not show up under KAX's Contents in CKAN.

Hi! Yes, it means incompatible with your version of KSP. And by the way, TACLS hasn't been updated yet: there's only a quick fix that the author does not consider stable. As soon as TaranisElsu is able to make a release, our bots will know :)

2. Why are some items included and others not, when apparently CKAN includes parent / child / sibling items? For example, Universal Storage is present, as is US KAS, but US TAC isn't.

You are not seeing US TAC because it depends on TACLS: since TACLS cannot be installed on 0.90, ckan won't let you install US-TAC either since it cannot satisfy all the dependencies.

3. What does "Mark All Updated" do?

It selects all the mods that have an update available, so you can update everything in a couple of clicks.

4. I just noticed when I came here to post that CKAN has an update. Is there an updater for CKAN within CKAN, and I just missed it? It seems strange to me that CKAN would tell me when my mods have been updated, but not when it itself has been.

Not yet (but we'd like to have it).

This sounds like a *serious* bug: would you mind dropping us a bug report?

No, there's no intent to support mods that are not indexed. If you see a mod that is not indexed and want it to be available, you can add it to the index!

It shows up in mine... B9 Aerospace Pack by author bac9 and B9 Style Shuttle Wings by gilbr0ther.

I suspect it was the same issue as TACLS: B9 did not have a 0.90 release until some hours ago, therefore ckan did not show it.

Hi, we are aware of the issue and we are working with snjo to solve it. :)

Hi, yes, they had the same display name. I fixed it in the metadata, should be good now :)

That's strange: investigating.

I'm having a problem. CKAN only gives me about 10 mods to download and install. What the heck?

Hey GregroxMun, are you still having this problem?

Hi I installed alot of mods via CKAN and today when I opened CKAN it tells me all the mods I installed and manually installed(as in autodetected dll). Is there anyway to "move" them back to CKAN?

Hi! Again, this sounds like a serious issue, would you mind dropping us a detailed bug report?

Guys, I'm sorry, but CKAN is kind of down at the moment. KerbalStuff seems to have issues again (it does work from time to time, but is very unstable) and all of our mirrors are down for maintenance since yesterday. We can't get the mirrors up until KerbalStuff comes back because we deleted all of their caches as part of the maintenance. This is a really unfortunate turn of events, I hope we'll be able to get everything back and running within the day.

EDIT: KerbalStuff is back up, let's hope it stays that way :)

Are things up or down? I was doing a full install of all mods as another test and it got most of the way through, but then the download speed dropped to like 5kbps and it has just been sitting there with 43mb left for like an hour now. Kerbalstuff seems to be up if I go there manually.

Oh no!

It looks like you're trying to install a mod which is already installed,

or which conflicts with another mod which is already installed.

As a safety feature, the CKAN will *never* overwrite or alter a file

that it did not install itself.

If you wish to install FerramAerospaceResearch v0.14.6 via the CKAN,

then please manually uninstall the mod which owns:

Ships/SPH/English Electric Lightning.craft

and try again.

Just got this error when trying to do a fresh install with CKAN. I installed absolutely *nothing* by hand, it was all CKAN.
