There are no more countries with economic stability. People starve, are murdered and die off. There are wars fighting over raw resources. There are only one billion people left. There no longer is any rapid technological progression. They must restart. You are now deceased, and thus the wish is no longer valid. Within a few generations, the humans slowly regain their steps. Only, the calamities caused by the previous branch of humans already have progressed too far. They were on the brink of the revolution of efficient renewable energy, and hadn't much time to put them in place. The newer humans went in the same direction as us, and baked themselves to death because of the already existing off-balamce climates and ecosystems. They're are dead now.
