How to tell you're no longer a noob at KSP

When a well-known and highly thought of veteran player gave me a rep point and a thank you for helping out another player with an answer. I of course, have stopped helping anyone else since then as I don't want to blow my average or have to return the rep point.

When you decide you don't need to waste money on expensive building upgrades. After all, those silly patched conics things are a luxury you can happily do without!

(snip)

Absolutely this. When you say "hah, I'll try and fail and do minmus without patched conics" and find out it's not that hard :/ Just figured out how to find out where the ascending nodes are by eyballing orbits :D

Today I succesfully landed a rover on Duna and drove it around. If I can land the other mission component, the surface hab/lab, I will consider myself no longer noobish.

I've been to Duna before but only in simple return capsules optimized for low mass. This is the first time I ever brought TEH COOL STUFFS to another body outside Kerbin SOI.

When you keep a temperature probe around Minmus, and keep it to complete every temperature scan you need by simply tweaking angle and altitude, maybe landing a couple times.

Seriously, I completed about 10-12 temperature scan contracts with a single 15k Kredits probe.

You're no longer a newb when you stop pressing F9 all the time.

You might be becoming an expert when you stop pressing F5 all the time.

Maybe you'll reach a point when you just stop caring and say "if it goes sideways, I'll just launch another one".

Or maybe that's just cynical, especially if you're on a manned mission.

This is my favorite definition of experienced players, but it falls apart when you hit F9 after every major accomplishment simply because the game might crash.

And that's mainly why I keep pressing F5, cause I know my install is not that stable over time and I don't want to crash my game before landing or because I took a screenshot :sealed:
