another bug happens where I can't switch it to static reflections and it just skips over to none. Im okay with no reflections I just thought it would help with debugging if I told you what issues im having :)

You need "mini-skybox" textures in `EnvMap/` for static reflections. You usually get them together with skyboxes.

Has anyone happened to have compiled the instructions and file "key" (which textures go where and what they're names outta look like) into something like a PDF?

I may go ahead and get this done if I have the time just for ease of offline use without ugly "save webpage"s which never look as good as the original thread & site.

Texture have ".tex" extension when listed in AssetExplorer. You can export them as DDS.

It turns out that my export missed a bunch of textures the first time, so I had the Kerbal material files but not the plain textures, which is why I assumed they were stored in a different format. When I went back to grab the .mat files (thinking they were what I needed) I found all the Kerbal textures. I totally forgot to report back and let everyone know I solved it though, oops.

Also, I've seen a bunch of complex tutorials on converting/editing DDS files. Is there something I'm missing? You can open them just fine in Paint.NET for individual files, or batch convert to another format with XnConvert (including mirroring them).

Decided to try out editing the default Valentina skin. I think it turned out pretty well.

Doh, the normal map is backwards. I fixed that but forgot to take new screens.

Lol! Cute!

Am I the only one here who likes the overdone makeup and lipstick in one of the old head texture packs? It's hilarious to show people. Would like to request for one or two of those :3

Set `logTextures = true` in `@Default.cfg` and you'll get a list of (almost) all textures in game printed to log on every scene switch.

Same result for me, with a few notes to add:

* Win7 (64-bit OS)

* Running Steam

* After seeing this, I removed the TextureReplacer directory from GameData and restarted and the white visors went back to stock, so clearly that was the problem.

* Valentina's visor on the Start Game screen stayed the same. (img attached)

The only things I could see in the log of note were:

[LOG 23:21:57.882] [TR.Reflections] Some environment map faces are missing. Static reflections disabled.

[LOG 23:21:57.885] [TR.Reflections] Visor shader sucessfully compiled.

After updating from 2.4.0 to 2.4.1 my start screen has changed (GL Mode):

Same thing for me. But only the male Kerbals. Val's helmet (on the start screen) is clear. (1.0.2 Win 8.1)

EDIT: correction - Val's helmet is clear only on start screen. Opaque white helmets for everyone in-game.

Confirmed, 1.0.2 Win7. Also, I'm having an odd issue. I've got suit replacements for helmet, uniform, and jetpack (helmet & uniform in both IVA and EVA). Everything was working fine until recently. All of a sudden it will replace IVA helmet, both uniforms, and the jetpack, but not my EVA helmet. The only change I made recently is adding a new head texture to a subdirectory of /heads, which also works fine.

I also confirm it. KSP 1.0.2 OSX

That makes three of us, Linux 64-bit. The visor differentiates no reflections, from static and real ones. But all three have a white background.

I think it looks quite cool, but I'd like to see the kerbal faces... ;)

This also happens in DX9. I have no suit replacements.
I can confirm this aswell.
confirm it with dx11 and dx9

I tried to fiddle with Default.cfg but that didn't change anything.So the best solution for now is to take EVAvisor.* and kerbalVisor.* (png,dds...)from any of the texture pak an put it in TextureReplacer/Default/

Linux 64bit (ubuntu) and I'm seeing the same issue, but only on MALE* kerbals. So it's probably just a config error rather than anything fundamental to all visors. I'm playing around, will update if I learn more.

I just realized the blatant sexism in the opening scene. The three guys are having fun while the girl is ten meters behind them all by herself.

*Update: The male/female split seems to only apply in the opening scene. Both male and female have opaque visors when on the pad. But it does give the reflection a cool metallic edge. I might keep it. And the reflectivity also seem dependent on scene.

Nah, Val has no visor in that opening scene. Normally the guys have yellow visors, but she's breathing vacuum.

Personally even though it is a glitch, I really like the shiny silver visor.

Is there a way to make it into an actual texture replacement option after it is fixed?

Does anyone know which packs have good looking Visor.pngs? The only oen I found was the orange suit ones, but shifting that to greyscale didn't look that great.

In my opinion the one in Scart91's texture pack are nice. I'm using those.
