Not too sure on the "tools for newbies" as long as you can turn them off I don't care, but what was fun about the game is how challenging it was.

Also this:

realism is a taboo way of justifying things here (thanks in no small part to the way the concept of realism has been demonized by both the developers and much of the fanbase as "unfun,").
Agreed.

To be honest is continuously feeling more and more like a kids game... its kinda putting me off playing...

The barn is coming back? Ugh, no. Not only did it look like a piece of crap, but it didn't fit the aesthetic of the game whatsoever. Kerbals shouldn't be regarded as the trailer trash the barn made them look like, and no one even ever launched manned rockets out of a barn, it's just stupid.

If Squid is really going to go that extra mile with the barn, they should at least improve the other new tiers, too. They look just as horrible.

Also, is this ISRU system going to be 'resource' or 'resources'?

Yup, it's not even going to be worth upgrading to .91, no new features that I really care about, or can't accomplish with mods. Squad totally abandoned the experienced playerbase long ago.

Oh, come on. "This craft doesn't have parachutes" is abandoning experienced players? This update sounds amazing. As for the barn, they said that the released pictures were of an old and unfinished version. I agree that all the buildings need work though...

Also, I can't believe that Project V really was female Kerbals. You guys can guess what dirty jokes the people on Reddit made up :P

How does it fit the style of the game? Put aside your love for the (rather mediocre,) models, and look at it from a design and realism standpoint. You have Mercury-era spacecraft being wheeled out of a barn, and being launched from what is little more than a grade-schooler's sandbox. That doesn't fit at all, from both a visual and a logical standpoint. As well, although realism is a taboo way of justifying things here (thanks in no small part to the way the concept of realism has been demonized by both the developers and much of the fanbase as "unfun,") one doesn't really want to be handing highly toxic rocket fuels in a simple wooden barn.

I don't love them that much, but they did say in the squadcast that they were going to improve on them. I think people are forgetting that ksp is a game, not a simulator. I enjoy both, personally, but as Squad has said on numerous occasions, it's a game first. There are mods for realism already which is why we have things like RSS and RP-0 (which I also love).

It's not like the barn is a game changing feature or anything. It's just a (relatively) small aspect of one mode of the game. Don't like it? Mod it out or play sandbox.

I can see where you're coming from though, ksp is widely regarded for it's 'realism' in some aspects of the game. I just think the stock style is kind of comical and that the barn fits that style.

The main guess on reddit was "Valentina" after Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space, so maybe it's you with the dirty mind.

I'm aware. I'm talking about the other posts.

Trust me, I did not make this up.

I know, but I came to KSP because it was realistic and different from all the other space games and I'm sure at least 70% of the people who play it are the same

Well, I came over from Orbiter because that one is much more realistic but for a joy ride, KSP is much more interesting... but that's just my opinion. I fire up ol' Orbiter once in a while, love to do an RTLS with the shuttle once in a while, but anyway... that's personnal taste.

As far as the KSP aerodynamic update goes, I wonder how close it is going to be relative to FAR/NEAR... I've been using FAR since 0.24.2 ... it is a must, but it makes it quite difficult with the existing tools (MechJeb, etc.) to predict landing spots with atmospheres. Looking forward to those development.

No mention was made of x64 improvement, Unity upgrades, or stability in general, I'm afraid.

This is because of Unity itself. Unity 5 isn't officially out yet, and 4.x doesn't support x64 very well on Windows. This has nothing top do with Squad, in case that's what you were wondering.

Yes, and unless they completely toss those models out and start from scratch, we won't see much "improvement." At that point, I'd argue that they're wasting time on something that KSP doesn't really need, especially when the current buildings still need a fair bit of work to stand up to final tier buildings.

I think people are forgetting that ksp is a game, not a simulator. I enjoy both, personally, but as Squad has said on numerous occasions, it's a game first.

Great. However, KSP wouldn't be the game it is without it's "simulation" components. It seems people here can't seem to understand the concept of things complimenting each other - the simulation features should compliment the game-y features, in such a way to make the game fun. If that means making things more realistic (as they're doing with aerodynamics, for example,) it should definitely be their goal.

Regardless, this isn't the topic at hand, is it?

I can see where you're coming from though, ksp is widely regarded for it's 'realism' in some aspects of the game. You clearly don't see where I'm coming from, then. The "comical" nature of Kerbals, as previously mentioned by the developers, is tempered by their technical skills - they clearly know how to build things properly, but simply have less concern about safety than human beings. To that end, Barns don't make any sense. Perhaps if they were launching small test articles akin to that launched in the 1930's, it'd make some sense, but that isn't the case. Instead, Squad is treating them like Orks from Warhammer: 40,000, and it's a rather noticeable incongruity. Everything from the basic concept, to the logic of it doesn't make any sense.

It's not like the barn is a game changing feature or anything. It's just a (relatively) small aspect of one mode of the game. Don't like it? Mod it out or play sandbox.

It's not relatively small. It's either replacing one of the previously modeled tiers (which indicates that Squad wasted their time re-modelling it, and could have been putting effort and manhours into a larger "aspect of the game,") or it's adding another tier, which means it will have a massive effect on the balancing of the game, something that's already know to be absolute rubbish at best.

If I don't like it, I'm not going to stop playing the game. If these forums exist for the reason they're claimed to, I'm more than allowed to offer my input on why the Kerbal Trailer Park should stay dead. The insistence of people in these forums on toeing the official line is another huge issue, and really needs to be fixed.

Could really use some clouds so the planets do not looks so bland, but I guess there is not enough people wanting that to be in game. Hurray for planes....though I do not make them or use them....at least they are getting more love (I guess). Though it does look like rockets get some love in the form of fairings. Also congrats to Roverdude! :D

That really only applies to x64 support. All of those other concerns are all tied to things Squad could fix themselves (for example, Tweakables causing memory leaks, and poor file management causing far longer than necessary load times and RAM usage.) This all has everything to do with Squad.

This info is going to be in the I button thingy in the right hand corner, so the list is something you'd actively need to open up. I think the check list is more for regular players than for people completely new to the game, building ship after ship and sometimes losing track of what they're doing. The newbies will be too busy with the big impressive rockets to worry about building the perfect thing right off the bat. And if they are the list is a nice optional tool if they want to use it.

It's been done... even if only in a movie :P
