Baenki
Yes they definitely are. So are command pods. Your crew should only be allowed to use external seats. Oh and engines should be illegal too. I wonder why struts were allowed back then, with all the unstable joints. Caelib
In our history of space exploration, we have used parachutes on Earth, Mars, Venus and Titan ... it's not cheating when you use science to your advantage.
NovaSilisko
Parachutes are horrible, all that fabric gets into the ocean and breaks loose and ensnares all the sea creatures in Kerbin's oceans that don't exist. Don't you care about the imaginary dolphins, you jerks?!
Baenki
Actually the Planet Kerbin is cheating. You should have to start on EVE and all your missions should be to reach Eeloo or the center of the Sun.
r4pt0r
I voted yes, and I can show you why. SRV Ron
If coming down fast, rockets can be used to slow down to a safe landing speed at the last minute. Why would one still have rockets attached? to recover their cost during career.
cpast
... Can they create fire in space?...Er...yes? Yes, I'm pretty sure we have the ability to create fire in space. Unless you mean igniting engines in space? (I can't think of any KSP uses of "fire" per se, just reentry effects and engines.) In which case also yes. LaydeeDem
I honestly think parachutes need a buff. I was landing on the Mun and the didn't do anything! ... Squad? not on topic edit: I see censorship has been stepped up. Really? We can't say "w t f"?
katateochi
absolutely. I just assumed they'd get taken out of the game at some point, or just left in for newbie training. When playing properly you shouldn't even de-orbit or land with a space craft, that should all be done EVA and employ the correct head-first landing technique to ensure survival. Scotius
Slowing down before touchdown is cheating. Everyone should lithobrake all the time - it is the only proper way.\endsarcasmSeriously? What next - solar panels? Batteries? Landing legs?Sheesh.
Brotoro
I got the Tech Tree up to "Transporters," so now I can just beam down from orbit and no longer need to cheat with parachutes.

Tw1
Try building a long, non symmetric craft. That makes parachutes more of a challenge, but it's a little less fiddley now, as we have the offset option.Playing without life support mods, and warping to launch Windows is cheating. Bloody_looser
Yes, parachutes are cheaty. As well as almost all other parts.I only use mainsail cannon and land kerbals on their heads.
