Yes they definitely are. So are command pods. Your crew should only be allowed to use external seats. Oh and engines should be illegal too. I wonder why struts were allowed back then, with all the unstable joints.

I voted yes, and I can show you why. Here are just a few anagrams of "parachutes"....

Trachea Pus

Space A Hurt

Area Putsch (remember, Hitler had a beer-hall putsch)

Teacup Rash

Acute Sharp

A Peach Rust

Aha Crept Us

Crap Hat Sue (very insulting to sue)

And too many other vile things to list...

Parachutes are the devils plaything!

... Can they create fire in space?...

Er...yes? Yes, I'm pretty sure we have the ability to create fire in space. Unless you mean igniting engines in space? (I can't think of any KSP uses of "fire" per se, just reentry effects and engines.) In which case also yes.

absolutely. I just assumed they'd get taken out of the game at some point, or just left in for newbie training. When playing properly you shouldn't even de-orbit or land with a space craft, that should all be done EVA and employ the correct head-first landing technique to ensure survival.

Try building a long, non symmetric craft. That makes parachutes more of a challenge, but it's a little less fiddley now, as we have the offset option.

Playing without life support mods, and warping to launch Windows is cheating.
