"Aesthetic missions" in KSP?

I had an idea one time to try playing KSP and recover my kerbals at least, if not the craft too, manually with aircraft. I put a "GPS/Comms" sattelite in orbit and I saw in Scott Manley's Interstellar Quest one episode, to test some plane or something, he put a "telescope" in orbit. So what are some other ideas for "aethetic" missions, just for pretending and fun?

I've done pretend telescopes before. there was a competion here on the forums during the world cup where teams built giant kerbal statues, that is something I've always wanted to do. land a giant monument on the mun!

While i wouldnt say missions per say, 90% of every craft i make is heavily based on appearance before all else.

I make many sci-fi influenced replicas, many 100% custom craft, capital ships, starfighters, vehicles, tanks, ect. Very few of them are purely functional, always like to make whatever missions i set out to do (challenges, personal missions, whatever i set out to accomplish, ect) in style.

I love doing realistic missions. Btw, Dmagic Orbital Science has a telescope!

I've gotten very into full-size replicas recently - Space Shuttle and now the ARES. It's fun because it is very challenging to engineer at full scale with KSP parts. I can't imagine trying to do it in RSS as well.

As Zekes said Aesthetic missions are fun for example landing on barges.

Well I've been rotating the crews on my LKO and Mun space stations with my favourite spaceplane, not for any particular reason, just because it's fun and roleplaying type reasons.
