  1. Your victory has been noted and is being reviewed. You can continue from 0.
  2. It is subtle, but the rules actually don't state that the operations have to be opposite.
  3. Technically speaking, two players posting the same number in the one minute window falls under rule #7 and the last player wins.
  4. Whatever the case, both adsii's and wildcat's posts are now invalid (adsii posted outside of the sequence, wildcat edited his post to cancel it. This should be fine as I was here to confirm that he did so before another player posted.) And you guys post so fast that I can't even reply in time. But Jose got it right here^, so it's k.
  5. I'd like to ask the thread to halt for now while we review PB666's revert. Thank you.
  6. Curious. I would say no. Reason for that is it's either a) edited, but the edit stamp is not showing (not covered under current rules, but you all know how we feel about edits and how we deal with them), or b) written in one go (unlikely, but hey), which is weird and it means there is a violation of rule #4 about multiple interpretations. But... It also makes sense and everyone would say that "the second interpretation is what narwhal meant, because he said so". I'm inclined to support point a), edited, but edit stamp not showing. I believe we had trouble with a similar post recently (which was appended but showed an edit stamp) and decided it was not valid. I therefore use my GM powers to revert to Mycroft's -18. I may be wrong, but at least it's just one number
  7. Sorry for the delay. ^This post was a correct progression, but got overridden by... ^this post. You can always mouse over the "posted at/however long ago" to see the exact minute of posting. By our current rules, Frybert posted it in the 1 minute window and therefore has the last correct number. Just for completeness, greenTurtle1134 continued from asdii1970's post, and his post is therefore invalid. And to make things a bit clearer (or worse... But then again, read the first and second sentences in the OP), here's an example of the "1 minute window override" possibilities: Player 1(15:26): 54 (+) <- this is the base post Player 2(15:30): 55 (+) <- start of the "skirmish" Player 3(15:30): 53 (-) <- valid override, same minute window Player 4(15:31): 53 (-) <- valid override, last valid post, "1 minute window" (see below). Also overrides Player 3. Player 5(15:32): 55 (+) <- invalid, skirmish posts were only counted with 15:30 or 15:31 timestamps. Reason for the "1 minute window" actually spanning between 1 and 2 minutes is that we can't see the second at which something was posted. 15:30:01 and 15:30:59 both become 15:30. To give players a fair chance for override we have to consider that from 15:30:59 to 15:31:05 is definitely within one minute, but the forum would show it as a different minute. We will most likely push a better explanation to the rules with next update. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to send the GM team a PM. And if you'd like to solve a mishap like this sooner, don't forget to ping me as well. All of our names are in the OP You may now continue playing from Frybert's -4.
  8. MehWarrior Online - Pilot giant robots and fight against other players for an underwhelming experience. Itcher - Turns out mushrooms and mutagens give you a crazy rash.
  9. Phew, what a mess. I agree with your assessment and with the last valid number. Not with the last valid post though. Let's fix this by a GM revert - last valid post is: on page 679 (1 page before your "critical error 1"). For completeness, next poster: kinda forgot a minus sign, essentially going +47 and violating rule #1. You may now continue the game from -23, set by Atlas2342.
  10. Is this thread still going? It's been a month already, but I have somehow managed to finish that M.Sc. (with honors) in IT (Computer Science). The title is actually "Ing.", from latin "ingenium", or "engineer", but it should be equivalent to a Masters degree in a scientific field. Next up: Ph.D. in computer science (focused on signal processing). ETA: 4 years
  11. You should know very well Yes. Back in my day I was pretty much exactly in your shoes, often going 1 vs many or 1 vs 2-3 spammers (we like to call them "boosters"). To be completely honest I think they started using the boosting strategy because I kept the rounds going for way too long with countless reverts Sorry about that. I know how you feel, I know it can be really frustrating. Rest assured that the win is getting scrutinized by the GM team right now.
  12. If the opposing side disregards a valid revert, call the GMs, we will most likely stop the game and sort the mess out. Don't forget that there are 3 of us spread across different timezones, so mention us all to get a maximum chance of fast response (but don't forget that we are only humans as well). For example, I check the game regularly, but people rarely call on me if there's trouble - in which case I can't really help at the time and it's really easy to miss something afterwards. Also remember that reverts from players are only accepted if they were posted before the end of the round, which the post you have quoted isn't. If you made a valid revert and it was ignored, please point us to it and justice will be done. Last but not least, warning shots are nice, but not official. If you "warn" the opposing side that they are "offstep by 1", it means nothing. Follow my earlier advice and you'll be golden.
  13. The first one was posted in a one minute window after the previous and opposite operation, which means it's a valid override as per rule #7 - check the timestamps and you'll see. The second one is exactly what I would use just before the positives win to set them back by about 60 points. I'd even have the post prepared in advance with a thorough explanation of the mistake, quoted rules that it broke and the last valid post from which to continue. I might even have multiple revert points prepared and only revert to the most recent one, one at a time Keeps the game fun and the opposing sides nice and salty. It also teaches the rules of the game quite effectively I would say
  14. I would also like to point out that nothing prevents players from keeping track of mistakes in the progression. Such a mistake doesn't expire with time (only when it's part of a sequence that was invalidated by another revert) and can be used to revert the progression and cripple the opposing side, if used with correct timing. Some might frown upon such a tactic, but remember - this is a war. And when you fight against horrible odds, you have to use everything to your advantage.
  15. Your victory has been noted, negatives, and is being reviewed.
  16. Names of all GMs are in the OP You wouldn't want to see my name more often, 'cause it usually means something has gone awfully wrong
  17. Took you guys longer than I thought it would, but a job well done Your victory has been noted and is being reviewed. Apologies for the wait, but you will most likely recieve information about the last three wins soon (well, at RainDreamer's discretion).
  18. Just a correction, even if the Kármán line is at 100 km, it's not exactly "the edge of atmosphere". The atmosphere extends way out past that altitude and doesn't work like it does in KSP. Even the ISS is slowed down by atmosphere so much it needs periodic reboosts. Otherwise I can only agree, knowledge of (mostly) physics will ruin your movies forever. KSP certainly doesn't help in that aspect, but it's aprice I'm willing to pay.
  19. At least you thought it was soft, which it probably is... I remember first seeing the Proton with the payload A/C system on some long time ago and thinking "The russians build their fairings out of steel? Hardcore."
  20. Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but wasn't Saturn V something like 110 m tall and 10 m wide (in diameter)? Height and mass comparison is correct, but the radius part seems wrong
  21. This. You can verify the second problem by enabling aerodynamic forces overlay (F12). Also this. If your rocket breaks apart right at the start of a gravity turn, then you are turning too late, too much and too sudden. With such a powerful engine and light load it might be beneficial to turn on fine control (capslock) to avoid oversteer.
  22. One problem you will run into when trying to keep things at KSP scale in Universe Sandbox is that nothing will keep the size you want it to - I tried creating the kerbol system in Universe Sandbox 2 and all the celestial bodies kept puffing up their size after the simulation was unpaused. Can't really keep the KSP densities in a somewhat realistic simulation. For a "bigger" system though, I can't imagine stuff being so impossible (certainly not laggy - stuff that's on rails doesn't take up that much computing power) if you throw enough coders and caffeine at the problem. We have alternative systems made in Kopernicus, why not a procedurally generated or cleverly imported ones? (There might be a reason why this might be impossible, I wouldn't know as a non-modder - but I feel like it could probably be done)
  23. I'm currently somewhere at the end of my first Dark Souls 2 playthrough. Right on time, too, can't wait for DS3 release
  24. More vessels = more lag when vessels are displayed in map mode. Probably won't happen with 5 - 10 vessels. 270 vessels is a different story though (I got carried away when tracking asteroids... derp) No other limits that I'm aware of, not counting the really ridiculous one - variable type limit (if anyone manages to have more vessels than the range of whatever var type is there, I demand pics).
  25. 1) If you put your camera on the plane of the equator and rotate around the planet such that the target orbit looks like a line (half of the orbit closer to the camera will overlay with the other half), you can figure out when the launchpad is under the desired orbit just by looking. A little clumsy (as is the explanation, sorry), especially for higher orbits, but it can provide a fast and easy estimation. 2) Not the most practical, but an easy solution would be to put a satellite exactly on the equatorial orbit (inclination 0°, always heading to 90°). Switch to that vessel, target the unfortunate soul you vowed to rescue and find out the relative inclination right on the AN/DN. Also possible with a vessel in polar orbit, but probably not a good idea for non-equatorial launch sites. 3) Not much of a Mechjeb user, but I would probably try to play with the ascent path settings, or whatever it's called. Maybe you can set it to climb steeper and/or build the rocket in such a way that the first stage gives you a sufficient Ap, then just circularise with the second stage in one burn?
