  1. I think the aero forces once the abort engine starts dropping out are what is inducing that wobble. Big forces in thick air at high speed; very quick deceleration Passengers would be redding-out rather than blacking out if they went out at all. Elderly people would be at higher risk for stroke, aneurism maybe with that much neg g
  2. Capsule was at max Q when it escaped at very high g, that thick air would have caused very high deceleration forces once the LES engine cut. So maybe the spike was the decel from escape burn, not normal descent? One thing is certain, while 15g may not seem like much for emergency situations in various craft, I bet people at Shatner's and Funk's age will have second thoughts after this. I wonder how much detailed scrutiny is given typically to LES deployment during max Q with elderly passengers?
  3. Use the part menu to deploy the centrifuge, then transfer the kerbals in. Oh wait, you tried that. Is it broken in the view of some mod thus requiring materials kits? Doesn't should like stock behavior
  4. What else do you do when people want different things? Making it an option is the only real option. I'm not sure how you see it being stuck in one form or another, when it could be an option, as a good solution. Unless you mean that it would be stuck the way you like it, lol
  5. Legalese: when you are required to say something but you are motivated and incentivized to be obscure and opaque
  6. As I understand it, terrain generation is fairly automatic based on pseudo random processes that are seeded with a persistent seed once the terrain is first generated. Any permanent deformation would need to be a secondary modification to this mesh. I could see a deformation being simpler than a craft, and more like a separate bubble of terrain generation that replaces a subsection of the main mesh using is own pseudo random process. The parent mesh would need to accommodate it and rendering would have an extra step. Performance would be affected. What is not likely to happen is somehow magically change the seeds to the main mesh to magically create deformation as an integral part of the body rendering without changing the rest of the body terrain also. This would be vaguely akin to creating an encrypted packet with the same fingerprint but different data. Tough problem, and not good if solved
  7. If it like kOS then it will fit as many things as it can in the 50hz slice it can. If your RPC is low enough overhead I could see it s squeezing in more in a later version. Beware of reading data in one physics tick, but not acting on it until the next as this can introduce error. I know about nothing concerning kRPC but look for a mechanism that allows you wait until the next tick so all data gathering and actions occur in the same tick. In kOS we look for the in game time to change. Someone more knowledgeable will chime in hopefully
  8. Still, it might be fun to put a BO capsule in as a test payload and beat BO at getting one into orbit, or at least a longer suborbital flight. Jeff would be steamed Unrelated, but automerged: MVAC on recent F9 launch blowing a lot of green for an extended period during first burn and still has more upcoming burns on its punch list to do. Is that common? I hadn't noticed before if so
  9. Just about any opinion on this could be supported as we don't know how Kerbal eyes work nor what image processing and AR tech may be incorporated into more advanced ship and helmet view screens and HUDs. So once mods fill the gaps in expectations it becomes a non-issue
  10. No soup for you! -- The Soup Notzi (forum won't let me use the "nz" word, its a Seinfeld reference, not political fer Pity's sake)
  11. Probably not as that looks like the physics tick rate in the game engine and all mods code functions by squeezing into that schedule. I believe that physics engine heartbeat, whatever its limits are on your platform, is a hard limit, but could be wrong in some way
  12. If like to see the option of having fast comm probe 2-way chain baked in. That is at interstellar level it is simply assumed you have a non-FTL craft, laser, or radio link in place such that tech discoveries etc would propagate at near or light speed. Of course advanced colonies could unlock tech independently in the normal way without that delay. Anything quicker would be magic ansibles and unacceptable
  13. It could be an overlapping sleeve type of connection with a foot of overlap; with interlocking tiles... But yeah, complicated. But more importantly, I think the current lunar Starship concept is without tiles and once in space would stay there and never be required to reenter. Why would one need it to? Just ferry up to it and use it for LEO to moon and back, lather, rinse, repeat
  14. So I got this image in my head of a lunar orbit rendezvous version of lunar starship where the tail end stays in orbit as a "service module" and only the top 3rd or quarter or so separates and lands on the moon. The idea being that the lander could be optimized for a lunar landing mass-wise and the payload bay would end up a safer and closer distance to the surface once landed
  15. Is adding transparency to stock GUI elements technically feasible from a mod?
  16. Oldy but goody: The Lord of the Rings movies copied most of the themes and ideas from the Harry Potter books which in turn were just poor copies of the Harry Potter movies to make more money
  17. An "Oregon Trail" like space educational adventure homesteading colonizing game/sim with humans in our solar system and beyond instead of kerbals would be very interesting
  18. I'm certain I'm not appreciating all the details, but still, I think a solution exists in using a common, and as you note, a persistent seed. It just doesn't seem horribly complicated from here anyway
  19. What makes scatter and collidables such a problem? Couldn't they just share the same seed instead of using a random one? I'm sure I'm probably oversimplifying, but at the same time don't see the game stopper
  20. I stated the communications were legally required, not binding. Typically products release dates given to investors and shareholders are taken very seriously as no one wants bad press among brokers and such. Having worked on more than a few projects I know the heat goes up a lot when a shareholder expected deadline approaches
  21. And I thought the lounge was different, my bad for my ignorance. Fences are important, but far more helpful if they reduce conflict rather than just increase it in the long run. Too many must-have conversations with no place to happen stacking up. History teaches well where that leads
  22. I think the Q4 FY22 is a fairly hard bright line as that is what investors were told in legally required communications. Even if they have pull all-nighters for a week at the end of March, they will try to get it out by end of March '23. I truly hope it is sooner, but I can't help but notice if they did release at that last minute it would make the pitch drop theory very accurate. I'm being amused not prophetic, if that isn't clear, lol
  23. So far the timing is fitting within 15% if we are to see KSP2 between now and Q4 FY22. Even if meant as a joke, it could end up being very accurate. I'd appreciate if you'd allow me to decide how seriously I'm taking it and how much I'm trolling
  24. We are headed to a neo feudalism with a super wealthy slice jetting around at whim, with everyone else held in peasant status via an all encompassing surveillance state aided by a complicit mega corp fascistic alliance. Environmentalism is being used as a cudgel to get the peasants in line. I am a strong conversationist, but most of these new top down green mandates have far more to do with power politics than anything that will address real issues. It isn't just oil corps making money. There are trillions being printed and handed out selectively. It is more of a gang war with multiple players and there are zero noble parties no matter the rhetoric. It isn't being done for "democracy" or "the planet" or "justice" or "the children". The collateral damage is already huge and growing. Small biz worldwide has been decimated by lockdowns while mega corps consolidated and had banner years. Of course the pols had all their insider trades on the right stocks
  25. No doubt...15 years ago. But who is getting rich now? Are they intrinsically better? Why are they still flying around whimsically in private jets? Why do they still own several luxurious ocean-side properties each? Why are they buying up oceanside properties at an increasing rate? Ignoring repeating patterns is bad science
