  1. I got inspired by a few things. Gameslinx, a bucket of rocks, and TWG's Arkas development. I've thus decided that I would like to learn and experiment with Kopernicus every day (i can) for 365 days, starting August 11th, 2021. My goal is simple. Make a planet pack that's enjoyable and way over the top, that's compatible with some other big names, *cough cough* OPM *cough cough* and overall just a fun learning experience. For the first few days before the challenge begins, I'm going to try to expand my small brain to fit the universe of Kopernicus inside of it and teach myself the basics so I can make something neat. Any help would be appreciated. Day One; My Birthday: I kicked off this self-proclaimed-challenge with a bang, (or maybe a boom?) Huge thanks to TheWhiteGuardian for helping me along thusfar, I probably bore him to death. After over two hours, plenty of help, and trying to figure out how to convert files from .txt to .cfg, I successfully Created DAWN! the center of my new system. Until I get a home planet made, Dawn will be orbiting Kerbol at a really safe distance (so I don't have to look at it unless I want to) I also started work on a small planet named Prova. Day Two: Today was very busy, with school and some exercise. I had very little time to work on anything today. I started on a gas giant (~7x Jool's size) that will be white with gold accents running through it (and maybe a thin, highly inclined ring from a munar collision) I'm only about halfway done with the config file of it. Maybe I can finish it tomorrow.
  2. Wabi Sabi - Perfect Imperfection The Overview: Wabi-Sabi. A word that has held prevalence in Japanese culture for centuries. A word that holds so much meaning and depth, it lacks a proper translation into English. It means the acceptance of transience and imperfection, and appreciation of beauty that is imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete in nature. Wabi-Sabi holds an appreciation of both natural objects and forces of nature, appreciating austerity, modesty, intimacy, asymmetry and roughness. Our planets easily fit this brand. Instead of embracing perfect spheres, habitable planets, perfect and balanced solar systems, we have a different unique approach. Each of our bodies has something unique to offer. In this mod, you won't cheat orbit around each body, or just observe from afar in tracking station, but be motivated to say "I want to go there for myself", and furthermore, "I want to stay here and keep coming back". Planets are unique experiences. They shouldn't be one off screenshot generators, but full of worth, value, and creativity blended with realism. Everything from a super-kerbin with exotic ammonia based life, to a lonely vacuum planet should have a relatively similar amount of value and unique content. If you want solar systems crammed with content, uniquely hand crafted planets, with plenty of gameplay, offering new challenges and reasons to explore, then this is it. Quality > quantity. No filler. In-depth lore and story that will send you on an odyssey spanning the small cluster of stars you find yourself in, somewhere between galaxies. Coming soon™️. 3. NEW FORUM PAGE UP NOW Project Pile turns to Galaxy Mod 8 months ago, I set out to create an ambitious project known as Trilogy, to which I became very burnt out creating. As an escape from working on the same thing daily, I created Flamed Out, which became my first released mod. After that I began creating new projects and announcing them near daily. It began to get repetitive. Start a new project, cancel a project. Everything fell through. I took a break for a couple weeks. And in an attempt to streamline, I present to you; KIP Systems. My take on a GU style mod. *EXTREMELY EARLY WORK IN PROGRESS* Now, you may be wondering; Where did the name Lazarus come from? Many months of motivation getting less and less eventually caused me to quit modding for a while. I eventually came back with this mod, which is comparable to the story of Lazarus, a person who died and came back to life. 4. As you know, KSP 2 is coming with a host of new planets and moons to explore. I think it would be cool to have a planet pack for KSP 1 with KSP 2 celestial bodies. The planets and moons in the pack obviously wouldn't be exact replicas, and proper credit would be given to Private Division and Take Two. Aside from super realistic terrain and volumetric rings, making KSP 2 planets in KSP 1 is entirely feasible (Rask and Rusk can orbit a barycenter). Any thoughts?
  5. Oh hai. This is a basic planet pack so far that adds a Near-Kerbin binary asteroid, Doppler-Dyva, a Pallas-like two-toned potato, Quazen, and four binary Jool trojans. Basically asteroids not filled by niches such as Minor Planets Expansion. Download here on SpaceDock. This was the old picture of Doppler, once named Onor (please don't deadname it). It's a relic of my past and how I've improved. Requirements: Kopernicus ModuleManager A good computer
  6. Threads of the Month: April 2023 Edition Kcalbeloh System is a planet pack adding an entirely new black hole system with 30 unique celestial bodies, including a super-massive black hole, 4 stars, 15 planets, and 10 moons and asteroids, each with its own unique set of challenges and features. This planet mod provides a diverse range of environments for Kerbals to explore, such as a planet with surface torn apart by tidal force, binary gas giants with multiple moons, a planet tidally locked by its parent star, and a small moon with a twisted surface. Like the movie Interstellar, there are also a pair of wormholes available for Kerbals to jump between Kerbol system and Kcalbeloh system, adding another layer of exploration and excitement. If you're looking for an exciting and rewarding space adventure, Kcalbeloh System is an excellent addition to Kerbal Space Program, providing tens or even hundreds of hours of entertainment. I really appreciate everyone who has followed this mod. Also thanks to everyone who has provided suggestions, bug reports, or any other forms of help. Also, if you have a cool idea and want to contribute to this project, feel free to let me know. Get ready to blast off into the cosmos and embark on a thrilling journey through the Kcalbeloh System. 9. Overview After over 2 years of improving and learning, hopefully it is worth the wait to those who watched along the way. I started this project as an innocent curiosity, then a personal project that meant something to me. I wanted to set this one apart from the majority of planet mods. I wanted this to be good; as good as I could make it, and did the best I could with my lil' Macbook; with TextEdit and GIMP. I’ll see to even better as updates come. I hope you all enjoy what I have to share! This pack adds a whole new high-quality star system, Polaris, for you to explore, situated directly above the home system at 4.3 kerbal light years! The system is based on Polaris, but also has inspiration from WASP-12, Mu Arae, and our own Sol. It primarily adds giant planets and their satellites, with more to come in the future. The objects feature various scatters on their surfaces, so they’re not so barren! No pre-1.8 terrain shader either. For those with lower end computers, don’t worry! You won’t need visual mods to see wonderful worlds. I’ve designed it partly with no visuals in mind, but it’ll look even better with them! If Kopernicus Expansion is installed, wormholes will appear that can take you to and fro! SCIENCE NOTE: This is not a fully realistic recreation of the real Polaris System. The real system is quite young, has no detected planets so far, and the outermost star is an F-type, not an Alpha Centauri A analogue. Sorry Star Trek fans! This isn’t a Trek-themed pack. Celestial body list Delta-V map courtesy of @WarriorSabe! Gallery Thanks to @Clonosand @ballisticfox0for taking these wonderful pictures! Required mods --Being a mod that adds celestial bodies, it requires Kopernicus and its own prerequisites. Recommended/Optional mods --Arthur's TiltUnlocker will make Gyro sit on its side! Beware: You may run into some bugs with this. One such is its misbehavior with scatterer. --If you want to take a way of getting there that's less of a hassle, try wormholes with Kopernicus Expansion Continued-er! So far I have the stock system (and by extension JNSQ), Beyond Home, Whirligig World, GPP, Alternis Kerbol Rekerjiggered, and GEP primary. --If you want to get there the old fashioned way, I recommend Blueshift, KSPIE, or Far Future Technologies with Calvin's buffed ISP patch. Oh, and Better Timewarp for your convenience. --If you want a nice home that meshes well with this system, try Beyond Home. If you want to give the lone Polaris system some friends, you cannot go wrong with Extrasolar and Galaxies Unbound. Regarding errors If you encounter a problem, provide a snapshot of your GameData and your logs. I can't help you if I don't know what is wrong! See this thread on how: Mod Support —EVE —Scatterer —Sigma loading screens —DOE —Research Bodies —Sigma Dimensions —Most planet mods. Being a mod that adds a whole separate star system, it does not intrude upon any system replacers, system accessories, or other system adders. Download Github Spacedock Being a first mod and first release of said mod, there might be issues. So just report them and bear with me. FAQ -Is there a way to make the system closer? Yes! There is an optional patch I've included to make the distance 10 times closer than normal -I switched back to the KSC and everything looks all glitchy! What can I do!? The KSC will appear all wonky and glitchy if you switch back to it from a long distance. A simple scene change, like going into the VAB and then back, will fix it! -Is this a system replacer? What's the homeworld? This is not a system replacer, but instead a system adder. There are rough plans for a homeswitch in the distant future. 11. This is my second planet mod, this one adds a moon between minmus and the mun. It is a one stop shop for gravity assists and science farming, it has all levels of the stock shader integrated Its Icy blue texture and giant SOI make it a kerbal's choice for a challenge It has 0.2 gees of gravity, and a relatively high orbital velocity It has a size of 250 km THIS MOD REQUIRES KOPERNICUS Screenshots : More screenshots : (thanks to kramken) SPACEDOCK License :
  12. My second Planet Pack a lighter pack though This mod has 2 textures 4k and 8k map textures And this adds a relatively small body to the kerbin system between the mun and minmus I think there should be rings but idk so i just feel to give it a kerbal look by adding green rings The moon is blue and has a gravity of 0.2 gees This moon is supposed to be Career/science friendly and GRAVITY ASSIST FRIENDLY the ASL gravity is changed to 0.2 gees

  14. orbit is far (link https://postimg.cc/sMDjZnmc) This is a very very very WIP mod, but this mod aims to add one absolute monstrosity of a planet, Xamion. This is a rocky ice planet much much bigger than Jool and on par with Kerbol. (Kerbol is 261 000 km and it is 20 000 km (sorry mis type) ). I plan to give it 4 moons, making a system of 5 celestial bodies. (I'm still think about the doppler shift). BTW I'm very new to planet modding and am not too good. 15. Welcome to the development thread for the Precursors Planet Pack! This thread is very old and outdated. See the new one here: PRECURSORS IS OUT! DOWNLOAD AT https://spacedock.info/mod/2869/Precursors Planet Pack#info Mod Overview The discovery of mysterious SSTV signals originating from Duna was a monumental leap in the search for intelligent life. Deciphering the signals revealed The Ignotum System, a previously undiscovered solar system 3 light years from Kerbin. Having recently mastered interstellar travel and hibernation technologies, the Kerbals were quick to launch an expedition to this new system. The trip ran smoothly, but upon arrival.... ... Alone among the stars, you are the future of the expedition. Rediscover ancient rocketry and flight technologies as you explore a vast, handcrafted solar system. Uncover the secrets behind the SSTV signals and the alien race that created them. Precursors is a planet pack designed to provide a fresh and exciting experience to players. Stranded on a barren but habitable world, traverse highly detailed celestial bodies and never-before-seen environments. Each planet and moon has a distinct challenge and appearance; hike across scalding volcanic mountains, maneuver through massive forests, and battle against relentless gravity on your journey across The Ignotum System. Collect custom science reports and unearth extensive lore in this continuation of the KSP story. Dependencies This mod is compatible with KSP 1.9.x-1.12.x. Precursors uses Scatterer to enhance the player experience. While Scatterer is not necessary, I highly recommend you download it for the full experience. Updates I will frequently discuss new content and post in-game screenshots of my progress. Most of these screenshots are taken from orbit and shouldn't be huge spoilers. Mod plan (SPOILERS) Screenshots (SPOILERS) RELEASE DATE: OUT NOW Screenshots here are not up to date.
  16. Hello everyone! The KSP Forums have a wealth of great resources for how to develop your own planet pack. But despite these resources, planet making can still be a very confusing process. This page is for people who are new to or curious about Kopernicus and planet-making in KSP. Anyone can contribute questions regarding the subject matter, and other developers are welcome to help answer those questions. Before posting a question here, I highly recommend you check out the following page: I will try to help whenever I can. I might not know the answers to some things: I have been developing my first planet pack for 5 months now, but I still have much to learn
  17. This project has been discontinued for reasons I am keeping private. All downloads have been removed and no support will be given. The Vulture System The Vulture Star is a main sequence star similar but more massive to Kerbol. It holds 6 planets, all with individual backstories. The Vulture System is my first ever full Kerbal Space Program project, taking about a month to complete. Github Repo Donate Bodies The Vulture System has 6 planets and 13 moons, making for a total of 19 celestial bodies in total. Features 19 detailed bodies with their own individual stories and high amounts of care put into creation. Two gas giants with detailed moons. Hints toward life and the previous existence of it in the system. Scatterer / EVE support. DistantObject support. PlanetShine support. Installation Requirements: Kopernicus (Should also work with the Bleeding Edge however unrecommended). The Mod Itself (Download Latest Release Here) Scatterer - Not technically requied, but due to an unfixable bug with Kopernicus is extremely recommended to prevent this from appearing. You simply need to install Kopernicus (and it's dependencies) + the Vulture System into your KSP's GameData folder. Vulture should work with 1.9.1+ Recommended Mods: EVE - Adds clouds to both Palleo and Desolation. Make sure to get the stock configs (BoulderCo Folder) for this too! Planet Shine - Makes your vessels reflect the colors of the planet. DistantObject - Makes the planets visible from a distance. Interstellar Extended - Interstellar travel parts. These mods follow a similar installation process. Credits Kopernicus Discord Server - Main place I went to for help and feedback. Great community. @Caps Lock - Made Vulture's sunflare and gave a lot of feedback. Support The best way to get support regarding Vulture is to make a reply on the forum thread (where you are now), or to make an issue on the github repo. Cool Screenshots Licence Squad requires all addons be released with a licence. Vulture is licenced under Apache License 2.0. For a basic rundown you can go here.
  18. Technology has brought the kerbals far, but has not brought them a new home. Instead, it has destroyed their home, and forced all kerbals to move onto a singular habitation ring. After thoroughly looking through old data, they reluctantly chose Dominion, a dead planet in a dead star system, to be their new settlement. Upon landing it was immediately noted that the atmospheric oxygen levels were perfect for Kerbal life. Dominion reached a population higher than Kerbin's and every previous colony combined. It was a golden age for kerbals, but all good things must come to an end, and unfortunately death is a repeating trend in this strange system. It was about time i returned to this project after 2 years. What is Trilogy? 19. About This is a small planet pack I've lately put all of my effort in, the main goal was to make it as good as possible. It adds a super weapon near Dres named "Dreskiller base" as the weapon threatens to destroy Dres. In case you didn't know, this was inspired by the Starkiller base from Star Wars. I hope you like it The time has come, it's time to get rid of this rock called Dres, Wait what is Dres? Anyways, this snowy superweapon is a whole new place to explore! Serenity - A pink and blue gas giant in the outskirts of the solar system, theorized to have been pushed to the edge of the solar system by Jool 4.5 billion years ago. Mesa - A desolate vacuum world, orbiting close to Serenity. Garden - A world most comparable to Laythe, with its oxygenated atmosphere and waters, though is too far from Kerbol to support Helmetless activity, though may be possible around Sea level due to unknown reasons (BUGS!) 21. Well, i guess we're stuck here now. What was supposed to be a mission to a star 100 lightyears from kerbin took the crew 5000 lightyears from home. 22. FINAL DAWN CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 Final Dawn is the second and best mod I've published so far. The universe has met it's end, but life keeps struggling: as do the kerbals. As two of the blackest stars collided, heat was released and a system was born. Eager to finally have a place to live again, a desert world was terraformed in the greatest mission to terraform yet. All that's left to do, is to rediscover ancient technology, and to rediscover a system forgotten. Final Dawn, being set around a white dwarf, is very hard relative to other planet packs. Approach with caution. Stock screenshots: Screenshots with visual mods: Maps: Download on SpaceDock: https://spacedock.info/mod/2597/Final Dawn Compatible mods: Thanks for reading! I hope you'll have a lot of fun playing this mod -Caps
  23. Kerbal Mythology I've always thought about how the Kerbals see deities and other religious/mythological figures, and there isn't really much to go by in the game other than Moho and Bop. I took it upon myself to make a chart of mythological figures that I think the Kerbals may have worshipped. (In a way, this is a continuation of this forum thread). This is by no means a "standard" for Kerbal mythology, as I don't really expect most people to care too much about it anyway, meaning that these names and definitions are open. However, I did think it would be cool to share my ideas in this forum post, so keep reading if you'd like to know what I came up with. You are free to use this "model" of Kerbal Mythology for anything you want, these are just cool ideas I have (e.g., naming your ships, your missions, Kopernicus planets, etc.). I decided to model the deities after Greek and Roman mythological figures (unoriginal, I know). Similar to our own solar system, I made sure that the names of the figures coincided with the celestial bodies in Kerbal Space Program that had real-world counterparts. Obviously, stock KSP has a reduced solar system, so I wouldn't be able to do it with names made only by Squad. I decided to use the names of celestial bodies found in OPM and MPE, two high-quality mods that add "kerbalized" equivalents of real-world celestial bodies into the game. The celestial bodies that these two mods add counterparts for are named after Greek and Roman gods, so I was able to match up each god with the "Kerbal" version of their name. Even after doing so, there were still a number of Greek and Roman gods that didn't have Kerbal counterparts, so I made my own names that try to maintain the same style. I ended up adding one additional god that wasn't present in any of these mods or ideas, which was Alternis, the god of change and difference, from Alternis Kerbol Rekerjiggered. I also added the Kraken. One last thing; several of the deities have purposes or roles different from their Greek and Roman counterparts do. This is because I wanted their roles to make sense in the in-game universe. Legend: Green = Names made by Squad, found in the stock game. Red = Names found in Outer Planets Mod. 24. This mod has been abandoned. It should still work in its current state. Please contact me if you would like to take over the pack. Description This mod adds one small gas giant, the titular planet Helvica, and its moons to the space between the orbits of Duna and Dres. While it may not be as far from Kerbin as Jool or gas giants added by other mods, Helvica does have one trick up its sleeve: It orbits in a retrograde direction. Because of this, you will have to carefully plan your trip in order to get an encounter. It has a few other features as well, including large rings, three moons, one submoon, PlanetShine and DistantObjectEnhancement support, and multiple science biomes for each body. As for compatibility with other planet packs, as long as you don't use mods that add planets between the orbits of Duna and Dres, or that entirely replace the existing stock system (Beyond Home, Galileo's Planet Pack, etc.), you should be good to go. Note: Helvica is my first planet mod, and it is very much a work in progress. Do not expect to find zero bugs. Updates may or may not arrive periodically. Installation Instructions Recommended: Install using CKAN. CKAN will detect compatibility issues and install any missing dependencies if needed. Manual: 1. Download and install the dependencies if you don't already have them. 2. Extract the contents of Helvica_(vX.X).zip\GameData to your KSP GameData folder. 3. Enjoy! Download from SpaceDock Dependencies Kopernicus Stable Branch (1.12.x) Supported Mods PlanetShine DistantObjectEnhancement Q & A Q. Is Helvica compatible with other planet mods? A. Yes, as long as they do not replace the existing stock system, and do not add a planet between the orbits of Duna and Dres. Q. Is Helvica compatible with Principia? A. Helvica is not compatible with Principia. Q. Is Helvica compatible with Rescale or Sigma Dimensions? A. There is currently no support for Rescale or Sigma Dimensions. Q. Where do I report bugs? A. You can either reply to this forum post, or send me a public or private message on my forum profile. Remember to do a proper bug report (i.e., include your mod list and the steps to replicate the bug). I will try to find a fix during my free time. If the bug is caused by a separate mod with no stated compatibility, I may not be able to fix it. A. I no longer take responsibility for this mod. Q. Why does it orbit the wrong way? How do I get to it? A. One of Helvica's primary features is that it is in a retrograde orbit, unlike most other planets. This is intentional. You can either spend enough Δv (delta-v) to put yourself in a retrograde orbit around the Sun, or if you like taking risks, try to get an encounter with Helvica as it is coming towards Kerbin and either aerobrake or use gravity assists (very difficult). You can also raise your Sun apoapsis to a very high altitude, and use a combination of gravity assists and engine power to easily invert your orbit. This has the upside of requiring less delta-v, and the downside of taking many months or years. Q. Can I make suggestions? A. Of course! Feedback and suggestions are very welcome. I need all the help I can get. I might not take suggestions that ask to add X moon, although I will consider it if it is a good idea. A. Suggestions will not be responded to. Helvica System Blue = Complete Green = Released Red = Unreleased Changelog Known Issues Ruse may have strange terrain, particularly around its poles. Borders between biomes may not be well-defined on certain moons. Large file size due to the use of .png textures for Neus Nadavo.
