The I <3 the ROUND-8 Challenge!

Recommended Posts

Thanks. I am humbled, as my success was not so much a result of my craftsmanship, but merely a choice of the right tool: the superb golden toroid. Its noble shine scares the kraken and is a delight to all spacefarers south of the north pole.

(You might also say that I built a rocket driven pineapple.)

Well, I´m not a 100% sure if you wanted us to build things like this, but here´s my "entry":

The ROUND-8 memorial gravestone!

It´s build of ROUND-8s, looks like a ROUND-8 and can do .... nothing!

OK, it has lightings and RTGs. And it tells you the dates of the ROUND-8´s birth and predictable death.

And you can stand in front of it to say goodbye. So do Jeb, Bill and Bob.

Goodbye, ROUND-8!

OMG THAT IS BEAUTIFUL ;.;

Well done on that my friend. Rep for sure. I hope I can find time to do this challenge myself. *begins scheming...*

It could be argued that no other fuel holding stock part can make such a simple, yet terrific beach ball.

Yes, it would be possible with xenon too, but it just wouldn't be the same. Xenon doesn't lead itself to such explosive plays. Conside me part of the Save the ROUND-8 movement.

I would put you on the leaderboard right now, but I want to see you kick that thing first. :)

I almost got Bill to slam dunk the ball through a basket, but the positioning is really hard on Kerbin. Mind if I do it somewhere else? Or I could just send it through the Mun arch and call it a goal? :P

One time, I broke the universe with a toroidal spring jiggling around at fairly reasonable fractions of the speed of light:

...does this count for anything? It was in an old version of KSP, but it was still tons of fun.

Yes it definitely counts! >:3

Ehhhmmm... not sure this makes the greatest argument for our cause. BUT that is awesome, and I'm sure there is some legitimate use for a torsion spring, so let's say you win the "I Broke the Universe!" category.

I don't quite know what you mean by a modeling part, that's all stock if that's what you mean.

P.S. I don't do any modding.

Ah, I just mean that you use the part to make a model of a real spacecraft. Assumed so from your Vostok .sig.

Either would be lovely! Appreciate the effort.

Goodbye, ROUND-8!

Hopefully it won't come to this. If Squad could bring back the controversial Barn, they can save this universally loved tank.

Orbit on only Round-8 tanks:

I almost DQ'd you for naming yourself after a noble gas, just two rows up the Periodic Table from the most hateful Xe that started this whole thing. But your springy ship is a very nice little craft, so instead I am pleased to award you what looks to be your first +rep, and #1 on the leaderboard in the "Not Single Stage To Orbit" category. Welcome to the Forum!

Thanks!

And be glad that ion thrusters run on Xenon not Argon, or they would be approximately 3.3 times more annoying.

Am I the only one who has a sneaking suspicion that HarvesteR is trolling us with another not-quite-April-the-first joke, to get everyone talking about something other than how they think 1.0 is premature? If so, it's worked beautifully. If he was serious, I still love the humerous spirit everyone is taking in response to this henious anti-doughnut policy.
