Ad Astra-A Japris Stellar Neighborhood Play-through

So, I’m creating a story-esq play-through of @DunaManiac‘s Japris Stellar Neighborhood. In it, the kerbal race will explore the Kerbol system before taking a giant leap to colonize Oppo in the Aryaa system. Here we go!

Day 1-

The Jumping Flea Mk. 1 is built, allowing the kerbals to reach for the stars....

*Jeb* Mission Control, we have liftoff!*

*Gene* Copy that Jeb, you are clear to do some SCIENCE!

What goes up...

A successful mission! Jeb wasn't happy  that he didn't get to space, but that's tomorrow's mission!

With the success of the Jumping Flea Mk. 1, Wernher created the Jumping Flea Mk. 2-

*Gene* You sure this'll work?

*Wernher* Ja! Ze flea should blow up the hammer after it is expended.

*Gene* Ok....Sounds kinda risky....INTERN, GET ME SOME COFFEE!

*Jeb* Let's launch this sucker!

*Jeb* YEAA DAWGIE!

*Jeb* Mission control, this is Jeb...the Flea failed to burn the hammer away. What should I do?

*Gene* WERNHER! YOU TOLD ME THIS WOULD WORK! AND WHERE IS MY GALL DANG COFFEE!?

*Intern* (trembles) Here it is sir!

*Gene* It's about time...Oh, and Jeb, why don't you just hop on out the capsule? If the telemetry's right, you've got an apoapsis of 41 klicks, you should be fine to use your Eva pack to slow down.

*Jeb* Good, it's about time I had some fun!

 

*Jeb* Here we go...

*Gene* Intern, get me MORE COFFEE!

*Jeb* YEEE HAWWW!

Yep! I am absolutely rubbish at manually installing mods, so CKAN is my best friend.

Has it? I wouldn’t know, I downloaded it quite a while ago. If you’re having trouble, you should ask HerbuSan, (and Dunamaniac) he’s one of the CKAN guys.

Day Three-

In order to get more science, mission control deicded to launch a few unmanned probes-Solntse and Razmakh. 

Solntse would be launched in an elliptical orbit around kerbol, to gather information on the dying star.

Liftoff!

Flight is nominal, accelerating to orbital velocity. 

Second stage cut-off, prepare for orbital insertion.

Orbital insertion is a go!

And now we have our first look at the feeble rays of Kerbol with the scientific instruments...Much to the KSC's surprise, kerbol is dying. The kerbal race only has a few precious years left before kerbol will go supernova, and scorch their home. The only hope for the kerbals is to flee to the nearby Aryaa system, and rebuild civilization.

So naturally, the kerbals must send out probes to gather as much science as possible. 

Here is the journey of Razmakh-

Launch! As you can see, the kerbals are wasting no time...time is of the essence if they will survive.

Orbital insertion-

Interplanetary Injection burn-

Good bye, Kerbin...

Orbital Insertion around Romily-

Razmakh was designed to be an orbiter, but science is so precious to the endangered kerbals to the point they will push the boundaries of their technology. Thank goodness Romily's atmosphere is quite tenuous...

And touchdown! 

Wernher was please with the science returned....It will prove instrumental in saving the Kerbals.

To avoid polluting Romily, Gene decided to blow Razmakh to smithereens "Dispose of the craft in a professional manner to avoid potentially contamination or Romily"

*Gene* Fire it up!

Wait a minute...

That's the older version of Romily. Oppo was added after I changed Romily, so how can Romily be old, if Oppo is newer?

Hmm...In ckan it says the installed and max version is 0.1.1...

I'm now on version 0.3.1.

It may say that it's only compatible with 1.10, but that's not true, it's actually compatible all the way down to 1.8.1.

Sorry for the lack of posts. I have been quite busy as of late, but I have been able to sit down and play for a couple hours. I have a good chunk of material, so you can expect some more regular posts to be coming up.

(also, I accidentally corrupted my save file! I just cheated myself some science to unlock the nodes I already had....is that alright?)

The KSC has set the goal of sending a crew to Doosem and back within two years. The first step is a simple fly-by with an unmanned probe. 

Razmakh 2 prepared for launch

*Gene* Alright flight, how's it looking?

*Flight* Everything is nominal Gene, we are go for launch.

*Gene* Light this sucker up!

*flight* We have cleared the um....launchpad. 

*flight* beginning gravity turn, all  systems running.

*flight* Stage 1 shutdown confirmed, prepare for stage separation.

*Flight* Stage separation is successful, and we are go for orbit.

*Flight* Apoapsis has breached the Karmen line, we are good for engine shutdown and coast to orbit.

*Gene* You are go, flight.

*Flight* Copy that.

*Flight* Orbital insertion is go.

*Gene* De-orbit second stage is a go.

*Flight* Copy that

*Flight* Experiencing atmospheric re-entry in 10...9....8....7....6...

*Gene* Intern, GET ME SOME COFFEE!

*Flight* Everything is nominal.

The R&D was very please with the data returned, but they need more before they can determine the potential of Doosem.

Many scientific advancements were made from this flight. Resolian rocks were discovered to be quite like rocks on kerbin, albeit older. There were also Cheese deposits amongst the rocks, for some reason. A surface base will have to be constructed to further investigate the mysteries that Resola holds....

(Spoiler alert! I already built a base! That report will be coming tomorrow) 

Anywho, I hope you enjoyed. I will have to work on my story-telling abilities, but until then...
