Technically first unless you count the time a DC-8 went supersonic in 1961. TU-144 first flight was in the late 60s.

Calvin sure did have troubles assembling one in a smaller scale :)

"Bandits at 3 o'clock!!"
"Roger, what should we do until then?"

Edit: @Spaceman.Spiff@Stormpilot

I think I have it down to memory:

Calvin's F-4 phantom streaks across the sky!

But what's this? Calvin's canopy is all smeared!

Calvin Throttle snaps in his hand!

Calvin tries to land but the landing gear is stuck!

Calvin franticly tries to eject but his cockpit is fused together!

Calvin's jet is a hopeless mess!

"stupid modle"

Meh I did not remember it that good. Here is the actual comic:

Then I imagine you also laughed way too hard at the strip...well lemme do the lines from it:

Its the late Cretaceous and there is a new scourge that plagues the large herbivores. Previously they had to worry about Tyrannosaurs, but a new predator is on the scene: Tyrannosaurs in F-14's!!

Edit to keep this on topic:

I like the comment on youtube: "they were vaping before it was cool" hahahahaha

Funny comic? Or KSP precognition? Hmmmm...

And I forgot helicopters...

Spoiler

I know what some of you will say, but I remember when it was first built and I got a chance to play with the simulator all those many years ago. I always thought it was neat how the cannons and cameras moved with the pilots head. Nostalgia I suppose.

I remember watching an interview with an AH-64 gunner talking about how they watched the tapes from a mission and one eye was independent from the other...like the guy was literally looking two places at once!

My oh my, this is gonna be fun (in no order):

The Stealth Diamond - YF-23 Gray Ghost & Black Widow II - YouTube

YF-23, such a shame this beauty didn't get selected over the YF-22

Major Power Overnight: Su-57 Jets in Myanmar Could Strike Targets As Far As Japan, Australia and the Middle East

Su-57, this is the epitome of sleek for me (minus the unpainted engine cowling, they're cool but seem out of place at times).

Time To Kiss The MiG-29 Goodbye

MiG-29 Fulcrum, this is just a slightly different looking plane but it works oddly well.

Aircraft N551H (1944 North American F-51-H-5-NA C/N 44-64314) Photo by Mark Kalfas (Photo ID: AC494464)

P-51H Mustang, it's probably the the one of the best if not the penultimate Piston-engine fighter.

Mikojan Gurewitsch / Mikoyan Gurevich MiG-3 - Specifications - Technical Data / Description

MiG-3 (it's just so sleek and beautiful)

4Kᵁᴴᴰ 4K UHD Messerschmitt BF 109G The Only German Flying BF 109 with Daimler Benz DB605 A engine - YouTube

BF-109 G-4, it's a BF109, nothing more needs to be said in my opinion.

In First, Air Force Flies B-1 Bomber with Externally Mounted Stealthy Cruise Missile | Military.com

B-1 Lancer, it's unusually sleek for a bomber, plus swing-wings make it cooler.

Convair B-58A Hustler > National Museum of the United States Air Force™ > Display

The B-58 Hustler with it's iconic 4 engine setup is really cool.

As for civil aviation, I'd go with the 747, 777X, the humble 737 and the new A350 XWB

I return to post another wall of text and airplane pictures. Here are a few of my favourite turbo props (from least to greatest).

I like the dash 8-100:

and the dash 7:

42-E1-C48-A-A715-4596-BBCC-B26-FBC7-EA5-
The L-188 is pure turboprop Canadian (operated) awesomeness:

AFCC000-A-8-E5-D-47-E8-A099-DC8917-CE05-
And finally, last but not least, the CC-130B.
