[WIP] Nontek UltraHeavy Industries 2014 Catalogue (Preview/RFC)

Recommended Posts

This is my very first foray into modding. I'm in the process of getting these into the game. In the meantime, feel free to pass comment and suggestion on my first parts pack. It's mostly science!â„¢

Iff you want to check out my other art, consult http://snarfevs.deviantart.com.

Enjoy, or not.

HE'S FROM A FUTURE TIMELINE THAT NO LONGER EXISTS.

HE MUTILATES THE ALIENS THAT MUTILATE CATTLE.

HE LITERALLY SPEAKS IN COMIC SANS.

DANGEROUS. MYSTERIOUS. SOPHISTICATED. MODERATELY CYTOTOXIC. REASONABLY PRICED. IF YOU NEED A WORKING SPACE PROGRAM LIKE, RIGHT NOW (you do, btw) NONTEK IS YOUR SUSPICIOUSLY CONVENIENT TOTAL SPACE SOLUTIONS PROVIDER.

  • "Hey guys I don't want to alarm you but how's that space program coming along? No, no reason. Are you interstellar yet? Oh, oh my."
  • "It's always good to have an advanced space program so that your civilisation has some security in case something really awful happens or is happening to your planet / sun / star system. Just as a contingency on the hypothetical chance that you might need it."
  • "Oh sure, planets collapse into hot, dense nuggets of squarkalino matter all the time! It's just part of natural biogeochemical cycling. Perfectly normal process. No known anthropogenic connection, of course. If it were to happen to Kerbin (a ridiculous notion, but bear with me) you'd only have a few years before the continual earthquakes and lightning tornados would make beer pong virtually impossible. Of course, I don't know of any such emergency or how injudicious high energy physics experiments could cause it."
  • "Oh gosh, I really goofed this time..."

If these are models they look amazing. If they are just concept art they're still looking pretty cool :)

That's really pretty texture work.

Also, it's nice that you chose to make science parts. Every other category is pretty oversubscribed.

also I laughed at the descriptions, those iso codes, keep writing

Looks nice but the texture resolution is a lot higher than it needs to be. There's really no justification for it considering that people have other mods installed too. Cutting into the memory budget like this just for a few smallish parts is a little silly, don't you think? You should be aiming for about 256 pixels per meter. That's roughly the resolution on B9 parts, and they already look a hell of a lot better than stock.

Art is great, descriptions are hilarious!!! :D

I'm definitely interested in further developments. Hopefully eventually we'll see some actual specs, more than the great descriptions above, I mean. As in, what these parts do in game.

Whew, roflmao!

I totaly love your style man! Kerbaly but sturdy, like B9, keep it up.

(When I saw those parts on deviantart, I thought it was some nooby designer, but now I have hopes!)

Even if those textures prove too much for KSP as it is now, hang on to them to use if/when 64 bit makes memory issues a thing of the past, because they're great.

Models look really awesome. I suspect their tris count is a bit higher than the stock parts. But that wouldnt be a problem. I found to my suprise that bobcats aresV launcher stage contains nearly 34000 tris (!) And thats loaded by the game without issue. I think the tris count really dont matter so much as long as the physics collider is simple (as ksp handles physics on the cpu but graphics on the gpu)

Hey Lande remember the utilities lander idea I meantioned? Some of these parts would be just the trick to make it look industrial and exciting.

Yes. I love the industrial look. I think these parts would go nicely with that kind of concept. But perhaps the color sceme isnt really chaka monkey style. I have some ideas for some industrial parts for cm and some Sls and spacex based stuff.I wrote a long message to you about the subject but my phone crashed and im too lazy to rewrite it right now:P. Ill probably just update you on it later when i have something to show off. Im currently working on a few new parts models for both el, ors and for chaka monkey
