The Comprehensive Kerbal Archive Network (CKAN) Package Manager; v1.18.0 [19 June 2016]

@jpgo5000/nlight: I'd like to point out DMP has been hit with this before, It's a false positive. Most AV programs have an option to whitelist the program (they should anyway..), but trying a recent build could also work: https://github.com/KSP-CKAN/CKAN/releases or if you're feeling brave: https://github.com/KSP-CKAN/CKAN-nightly/releases

Hi,

First, sorry for accidently hijacking that previous message about the Panda error, I'm going to delete this and repost here:

I've been using ckan on Windows very successfully for a while. It's a great package.

I'm trying to use it on OSX. I got mono installed, and am invoking ckan using:

mono /Users/jbayer/Desktop/Kerbal/ckan.exe

I can get it started, I selected a KSP install, then hit the Refresh key, and keep getting the following:

=======

Failed to connect to repository. Exception: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

=======

I also get the following in the terminal window:

mono /Users/jbayer/Desktop/Kerbal/ckan.exe

1062 [1] ERROR CKAN.URLHandlers (null) - Error: Parsing Error: Could not parse file ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list

4059 [1] ERROR CKAN.ErrorDialog (null) - Failed to connect to repository. Exception: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

The first line shows up when the main window shows, the second line when I do the refresh.

If you are referring to the CKAN Repository, then it is set to the default:

https://github.com/KSP-CKAN/CKAN-met...ive/master.zip

And I was able to download that file manually.

I also tried the following after seeing a message about a similar error:

mozroots --import --ask-remove

mono ckan.exe update

no change

Any ideas?

Laptop is a Macbook Pro running Yosemite, 10.10.1, with 16 gig of memory.

Thanks in advance

I installed CKAN for the first time. It says version 1.5.4-0-g and a bunch of zeros.

When I clicked "Refresh", it prompts an error message like the one for linuxgurugamer:

"Failed to connect to repository. Exception: Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

In the previously empty "manage mods" window are a number of alphabetical entries, but "Contract Configurator" is the last one.

Failed to connect to repository. Exception: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

I had the exact same problem, and then 10 minutes later it went away. I'm guessing a corrupt metadata file that got replaced.

Any idea what caused the problem?

Bad metadata somehow sneaked past our CI build, NetKAN.exe, _all_ of the numerous tests and validations and in the end managed to crash CKAN. This is really something we've been working hard to avoid, but mistakes happen :)

EDIT: The relevant fix is already upstream and will be in the next CKAN release.

Also CKAN v1.5.4 is up (without the fix described above, but with other very relevant changes!), and is a recommended upgrade for all users.

Love the mod/plugin,

running KSP 0.90 on Linux Ubuntu, and got the Microgravity release

Getting mozroots error (either by trying to update through CMD-line or through GUI), running the mozroots import command doesn't fix it.

Tried...as suggests in posts 20 odd days ago, and not even for linux, adapted from MAC OSX...

sudo ./ckan.exe update --repo="http://amsterdam.ksp-ckan.org/master.zip"

seems to fix problem, mods come up, starts downloading, starts installing, then...

Oh no! We tried to overwrite a file owned by another mod!

Please try a `ckan update` and try again.

File : GameData/UniversalStorage/Parts/US_1R110_Wedge_KASContainer/KASContainer.tga

Installing Mod : UniversalStorage-KAS 1.0.0

Owning Mod : UniversalStorage

CKAN Version : v1.5.4-0-g0000000 (beta)

Thanks in advance for any help,

Hm, playing with this at the moment. It does autodetect my installed mods, but can I update them?

The auto-detect "AD" label effectively blocks any operation and there ain't a context menu available in the GUI.

Do I have to reinstall them one by one to enable them in CKAN?

Sambo, this is the same problem I described a few pages back. It's because the most up-to-date version of US already contains all the files for all its various packages. As CKAN won't overwrite files, you get this message when trying to install on of the add on packs. What this means is that you no longer need to install the separate packages and it will work just fine :D

tl;dr Stop trying to install the US KAS pack and you'll still have all the parts without the error message

Potential Bug Report:

So I'm trying to update my mod list so that everything I have that is CKAN compatible is managed through CKAN. In other words, I'm deleting mods out of my GameData, hitting "refresh" on CKAN, and then reinstalling them with CKAN so that I don't see the "AD." (I realize that this is silly, but there's a little bit of mod-managing OCD.....quit judging me =D)

So I did this with ModManager -- deleted it, then hit "refresh" on CKAN -- and CKAN threw the following Unhandled Exception: "Exception of type 'CKAN.InconsistentKraken' was thrown."

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

But why does it throw this error at US-KAS pack? It installs others that have already been downloaded fine before it.

And assuming it's a specific error of US/US-KAS, that only explains the second error, but what about the persistent mozroots error?

It is specific to the US/US-KAS issue. The mozroots problem is caused by mozroots installing the certificates only for the user you are running the program.

So, if your Linux user is "Sambo", you have to run mozroots while you are "Sambo", and also run ckan from here on as "Sambo".

Oh, so when I start a terminal, what command do I have to use to change the current user? (another weird Linux thing, where a terminal started by a user doesn't inherit the privileges/permissions of that user. Just mad...)

Thanks.

could you type "id" (without the ampersands) into the terminal and paste its output here?

If you see "root", then you are in trouble, kind sir!

If not, your terminal did inherit everything it should.

Is there a way to get CKAN to take over management of a mod (i.e., to change the AD)?

About to install...

* UniversalStorage-KAS 1.0.0 (cached)

Oh no! We tried to overwrite a file owned by another mod!

Please try a `ckan update` and try again.

If this problem re-occurs, then it maybe a packaging bug.

Please report it at:

https://github.com/KSP-CKAN/CKAN-meta/issues/new

Please including the following information in your report:

File : GameData/UniversalStorage/Parts/US_1R110_Wedge_KASContainer/KASContainer.tga

Installing Mod : UniversalStorage-KAS 1.0.0

Owning Mod : UniversalStorage

CKAN Version : v1.5.5-0-g0000000 (beta)

Your GameData has been returned to its original state.

Error!

...and...

--edit Argh. What I meant to post here was something to say that I had done ckan update per the instructions above, with no resolution.

Been playing with CKAN. Love it! It would absolutely make my day if CKAN had a feature where you could filter down what parts are going to be installed with a mod. I often install, for example, just the solid rocket boosters from KW rocketry, or everything except the part containers from KAS. Apologies if it's been asked before.

Is there a way to get CKAN to take over management of a mod (i.e., to change the AD)?

See the previous page:

Sambo, this is the same problem I described a few pages back. It's because the most up-to-date version of US already contains all the files for all its various packages. As CKAN won't overwrite files, you get this message when trying to install on of the add on packs. What this means is that you no longer need to install the separate packages and it will work just fine :D

tl;dr Stop trying to install the US KAS pack and you'll still have all the parts without the error message

You mean something like http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/106363-CKAN-plugin-CKAN-PartManager-v1-0-Selectively-remove-parts-from-mods ?
